Getting a New(er) Ranger

Getting a newer Ranger to me possibly. Here is a quick picture.

My truck has almost 116k on it now. I am wanting a newer Ranger due to mileage. I had considered a full-size, but I really don't need it and I like the Ranger's fuel economy.

This one here is a FX4 Level2 which is nice! 5spd and all the bells and whistles. It currently has right below 85k right now. The dealer wants $12,990 for it, but he said that was negotiable.

So my question is, is this a really good deal? Or I am getting ahead of myself, seeing that this truck already has 85K on it?

Ok man. That sounds like a good idea. How many miles does your 04 have?

Ha they "appraised" my truck at $9,000..... I am pretty sure I could get at least 10K or better for mine selling it privately. Well at least somebody told me they would give me $10k if I ever decided to sale mine.

Bout the same. Especially if they are FX4's. There's an 03 down the road from this one that is a FX4 twin sticked with 90K on it, and they want 11,900 for it. And it doesn't have a bedliner, tonneau cover, and not nearly as clean as this black one.

In my part of TN it seems that truck prices are higher than other parts of TN and the rest of the south lol. But I may be wrong.

Yeah I'd like to find an 05+, but this black one is so dang clean lol.

But yes, I do plan on test driving it tomorrow, or for sure on Wednesday.

I bought mine for $9600 + taxes and stuff, 2 years ago when it had 55k miles on it. Now it has 77k miles on it. I'd probly try to get around $11k out of it, but I'm not really looking to sell, haha.

Wow that's a dang good deal for yours when you bought it! Haha I understand man they are hard to sell when you put a bunch of stuff on it that makes it look sweet.

I will at least go take a look at it again and see what they can do about the price. $12,900 is quite steep IMO.

Absolutely. That's how we do things in America and that is what Dave Ramsey recommends.

IMHO if your going to buy another truck, spend another few thousand and get a 06+. For only 30k less miles and 3 years newer it's not worth it

If a dealer is asking a high amount for a truck but they offer you a high trade in value it could be better than a low price on a truck and low trade in value. Just weigh it out.

to the people that say its 'overpriced'.. you have got to keep in mind that just because its high in your area doesnt mean that its overpriced in his.

best example that i can give is about a year ago I was looking at diesels. In my area, an 03 lariat f350 4x4 7.3 with less than 100k would cost about 18-20k (if you are lucky). I found the same truck in florida at a dealer for 11k.

Id do it. I love my level II and am very glad i bought it last year

If they give you 9K trade then yes do it. But your truck doesn't have that high of mileage to worry about getting rid of it yet. If it were me it would all depend on the trade in I get.
