Going X-country
So come September I will be going cross country with a friend from NM. he's flying up here and we are driving to NM then back up here. On the way back he will be following me in his 04 F350 King Ranch. I would like to know traveling tips and other useful information. Hopefully the Ranger is up for a long drive.
Thanks Dave

just got done driving from Seattle, Wa to South Carolina.. In the gf's ranger with a dog in the extended cab.
My tips to you:
1. Keep the dog drugged (if there is a dog/availiable narcotics)
2. Dont stop unless absolutely necissary
3. Plan out your days, start/stop etc (i used microsoft's streets&trips program on my laptop and it was extremely accurate)
4. We did reasonable travel days, anywhere from 10-14 hours per day depending on the weather.
5. Only stop for fuel/food, if you can time them together you will save time and money.
6. Pack a cooler with sandwich supplies, drinks and snacks. Not only will it save you money, but again you won't have to stop.
7. Load up your ipod, phone or mp3 player with "books on tape" or audiobooks/music. Keeping yourself awake/entertained will be hard sometimes and it helps to stay awake on those long days.
We did the drive in 40 hours and it took 4 days, the first 2 days were 12-14 hour driving days so that the last 2 would be easier. That helped a lot surprisingly.
Hope this helps, the drive sucked a lot less that i had originally thought it would.

I made a trip to Florida once and back in my dads Ram, I found that if you always keep enough Cash on you for a tank of gas, you should be fine, i also had my Check card with me, but you never know when you'd have a problem.
Red bull, Monster, Amp or all that junk, is a must, but be aware its not good to slam that junk.
