Is this a good deal?

I am looking at a 2002 ranger 4.0 auto, 4wd off road pick-up. It has 43xxx miles and the body looks good. Mp3 player, four door, towing package, bedliner, running bars. Interior is very clean. there is some rust underneath, clumps of dirt tell me that it has been mudding. It also has brand new tires on it. I know that I can pick it up for 12k, is that a reasonable price for this truck? What would you pay? What should I look for? Problem areas? Thank you in advance.

It doesn't sound too bad. Pics or a link would be helpful

seems a little high, I bought my 03 last year with 33k and a few extras on it for $13k, and it's pretty much the same truck as the one your looking at. I would say 10-11k is reasonable, tho blue book is $15,500, maybe 12k is reasonable then.

Thanks for the opinions on the price, what about the rest of it. What are some things I should look for, like problem areas and such?

i think it's high with rust on it, then again you are buying it from MI. IMO offer $10k for it. Timing Chain Rattle is one area I've heard, I haven't had to deal with that on mine, with 149,000 miles on it.
