header install write up coming soon
header install write up coming soon
my JBA headers came in this week and im gonna start the tear down and install tomorrow. and finish it up monday night if i dont get it done tomorrow.
the headers are slag free on the inside. and look dam good. i just got the bare stainless ones since i couldnt justify the added cost for ceramic coated ones.
so for all yal with 4.0 sohc ranger owners thinking about getting headers, ill do a write up with some video clips of the sound and my thoughts about them... and we will see how much faster it makes the truck.. 100% stock 1/4mile time was 15.6... so i have something to compare too.
should be by the weekend when i have a full writeup that ill post with tons of pictures

Here's one write up someone did for a 3.0. It may help with your install.

removing the stock manifolds was cake.... getting theJBA headers in is a little bit harder ha, i chose to re-use the factory studs since they sent the wrong hardware for these headers and with christmas tomorrow... i wouldnt see the correct hardware for a few weeks and this is my only day to install them. i see no problem using the factory studs and nuts. there is one stud that i should have removed so i could fit my ratchet wrench inbetween the stud and the header. ill do a full write up friday with all the pictures and such. ill try to get some video clips up runnin straight headers(for ***** n giggles) and headers thru the factory exhuast and headers with out a muffler

ya i couldnt get a bolt in on the passenger side, and i lost the 6mm bolt that holds the dip stick tube to the heads, and one of the holes stripped out in the head so im running without 3 bolts installed tho... but i have no leaks at all so im not worried about it.. ill just have to install the 6mm bolt that holds the dipstick tube in place tomorrow or something.

I bought some locking header bolts from summit racing or some place similar; I think it was well worth it.
ill have a full writeup tomorrow but i wont be able to post pictures for a while b/c my dad took the camera to amsterdam with him.. and i dont know how long he is over there this time..
but, i feel that there is a gain in the mid range the most. havent really got to romp on it too much. but i will see how much faster it made my truck when i go to the 1/4mile track again in january..
but if you are going to do a good amount of mods(intake, pullies, programmer, exhuast) i think the headers will help out a whole lot more than on a stock truck.
im hoping to make a aluminum heatshield and mount a cone filter when i get back to work or just do an air box mod with a drop in filter.
