Help
So I just purchased my ford ranger (1998 extended cab, 4.0) for 2 grand and just spent another grand fixing the hoses, plugs, ext. and I am feeling ready to start moding my truck, but don't know where to start. I'm not an overly competent mechanic, but I want my truck to be able to put out some power and also be able to hit some trails with my wife. Any help on the matter would be great.

How much money do you have to put into it?
Are you able to do the work yourself?
What is your current axle code? (this can be seen on the door tag)
When you start modding a vehicle you need to first determine what size tire you want to run.
This will determine how much lift you need.
The budget will tell you if any of that is possible.
