Help 1994 Ford ranger speedometer

Help 1994 Ford ranger speedometer

I need help.is there an aftermarket or anything I can change my 1994 Ford ranger speedometer to Becuase the max is 85 but I’m always going past that in my truck on highways. Links vidoes or anything would help thank you

No, not really, the 1993/4 clusters are only matching ones, other years don't crossover

You could change the Driven gear on speedometer VSS/Cable unit on transmission so it reads a LOWER Speed than actual, so at 70mph you are really going 80MPH
Less teeth on driven gear means higher speed on speedometer, which is what most need when they get larger diameter tires
You want more teeth on driven gear, which will cause speedometer to show lower than actual speed

You will see this unit on your transmissions tail shaft, drivers side:https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...s_withgear.JPG
Speedometer cable is attached and 2 wire connector(VSS sensor)
Remove the 1 bolt and pull the unit out
See how many teeth on your gear now, it just pulls off
get one that has more teeth, 4 or 5 more at least


Other option would be to use GPS speedometer on your phone or separate unit mounted on dash, unhook speedometer cable from transmission, but leave VSS sensor plugged in, computer needs that, also cruise control if you have that
