Help with brakes?

'96 XLT 6 CYL 3.0 2WD, are the rear brake pads the same part as the front? I keep finding different information form part site to part site and cannot currently visually check them.

Thanks!

Unless your Ranger uses drum or disk on both the front and rear, then no. As far as I know, the Ranger has always had rear drum brakes with front disk brakes, up until either 2010 or 2011, just as it got axed from Ford's line.

Take a look at rockauto. From my usage of their site, their parts listings I'd say are impeccably accurate. Quality stuff too at inexpensive prices.

Welcome to the forum

No, Rangers used Brake Shoes on the rear(drum brakes) and pads on the front(disc brakes) until 2010 model year

So your 1996 has brake shoes on the rear

There were two different sizes used on the rear, 9" and 10" you need to know which ones you have to get the right size shoes
Easy to tell just by looking at the Drum
9" will have fins on the outside
10" will be smooth on the outside

1996 2WD 3.0l V6 Ranger could be either one
