Help me with some "simple math" (to do with Rangers sortof)
Okay, I want to go on a 2,640 mile trip. Tell me if this sounds right on calculating how much gas will cost me.
2640 miles.
230/16 = 14.375 mpg.x 20 =
287 miles to the tank.
BUT, I have missized tires so I figure that.
Stock tire ratio to 35s
29/35 = .83. That means for every mile I go, my speedo thinks im going .83 miles. So, 346 miles per tank should be my true mileage.
2640/346 = 7.1 full tanks of gas.
141 gallons x 3.40/gal = $480.
Does that logic seem good to you? I realize I am going to bend logic towards me getting better mileage to make me feel better, but also the last leg of the trip is by ferry ride. So that cuts some of the total distance down.
Info: 2640 mile trip.
14.375 mpg on 35 inch tires
Gas 3.40 a gallon (its actually a bit lower than that)

Prices Vary like he said....thats the only other factor in your calculations other then that it sounds good

dont mean to high jack this thread, but if my truck originally had 27" tires, and now it has 26" tires, and I get 350 miles per tank, how many miles have I actually went? I used an online calculator a while back, and it came out to be I think about 5 miles less per 100 miles on the odometer.......is that right? And if my original rear end gear ratio is 3.73, with the 26" tires, its about 3.91 now?

2 things i need to know Andy and i can give you exact information with the gas prices and fuel milage you said you got in the 1st post:
- current address
- address going to
i can calculate it in Microsoft Streets and Trips.....it will give me the best route and how much to expect for gas.......
if you want you can just give me the start/stop city and state...
