Ask yourself, is the juice worth the squeeze when it comes to the Ranger? Needs a bed, needs cab mounts, rust everywhere, veryvery high miles on the engine and transmission...it's gonna be a money pit pretty soon. Is keeping it worth the cost of constantly replacing parts on it? Like I said earlier, If I were in your shoes, I'd give the truck up and start over on a better condition truck to begin with. Shoot....just down the street from me there's a 94 4.0 xcab that looks just like yours...same color and everything. It's in great great shape and it's asking price is only $2500 with 130k on the clock.

i know it is and i was just thinking i wont ow them any money and when i sell the probe i will have about a grand to drop on a new ranger nikki and i were just talking about that and i will probably put the money some place so that i can just keep adding to it so i dont spend it lol

strakill 08-04-2009 10:33 PM

^^^ Its a right and wrong thing for me. They should just put them up for sell and take what they get and make the best of it, rather than using a program from the gov, using tax dollars when were broke already, just to get ahead. I will state my opinions no further because I fear I will have already started an argument.
All I can say Downey is look at my prior post and I wish you the best of luck. And it very well might be for the better to let go of this ntruck so that you can get a better one.

Make it happen. Kiss her goodbye...all things must come to an end. Even though you don't see it now, it makes sense to do it the way your old man is wanting to do it. He's saving yourself from yourself. Kinda harsh, but it's true. He knows you'll be belly up on the truck if it's still around because he's probably aware of the trucks problems and what problems may arise in the near future. It's harsh, yes, but dude....be smart...this is better for your pocket in both the short run, and long run if you say good bye right now. It's also better for him too. He's probably teaching you some sort of life lesson here on priorities.

It's called a savings account btw.

Downey 08-04-2009 10:45 PM

haha if its in the bank were i can touch it with my online banking i wont save it lol but yeah he know the problems i just hate that he wont let me take my tcase out and put my old one in and take my rear axle out and put my old one back in there both laying around here

nate_g_2003 08-04-2009 10:48 PM

try a credit union...they may not have online banking like the normal banks have. plus a credit union will have a better rate on a savings account than a large bank

I sure as hell know the dealer doesn't care...but is the old man forbiding you from swapping them out right now? It's a whopping half hour job to swap tcases....and an hour job to swap axles.

01b3000 08-04-2009 10:55 PM

just swap wen he ant home and dont tell him he wont notice

Downey 08-04-2009 10:57 PM

haha im so tired im going to take my console and ohc out tomorrow and a few other things i was planning on going and getting my exploder leafs and new front axle tomorrow and fixing my truck because i was planning on using it to move on the 15th

Dangerranger01 08-04-2009 10:58 PM

off topic: only an hour?? dude i've got it made, why am i worrying?

Roach2004 08-04-2009 11:01 PM

Now I do agree that is stupid on them not letting you swap it out I say strip the thing and give it to them who says it needs consol's and stuff like that.

99ranger4x4 08-04-2009 11:02 PM

i wish i could afford to have 2 trucks and a trailer let alone 3 vehicles.

01b3000 08-04-2009 11:02 PM

take the engine out also and trade fir my 3.0 aha

Fx4wannabe01 08-04-2009 11:04 PM

Why in God's name would you want a 250,000+ mile engine? Plus, that would disqualify the truck from CARS.

It's all about you being spring under, Grant. And the C-notch. And those nifty HUGE way better than Expo discs that are goin' on.

my the 2 vehicles that i payed for don't add up the price you payed for your ranger

Sea-Bass 08-04-2009 11:09 PM

Under the program the vehicle being traded MUST BE RUNNING, so you cant take anything off of it or out of it...unless you do a swap

I'll tell you this, my 93 is eligible, I would take the 3500 for it because its not worth 3500...but everything I want gets sh!t for gas mileage.

Downey 08-04-2009 11:20 PM

^^ yeah but your 93 is sweet i would trade you straight up so you could clunker my truck if my parents didnt want to do it to mine already

red_rider 08-04-2009 11:28 PM

I can understand sentimental value and all that (I love my truck too of course) and I'm not a fan of the fake-truck Escape/Mariner either, but 254k miles? Lets be serious here, your truck has lived a good life but it could very well take a big crap in the near future and then you'd be screwed.

I agree with the others that said part all the good stuff out of your truck and turn that sucker in before it takes the dirt nap anyways.

Plus you can always find another Ranger later and apply your modding skills to make new memories.

Downey 08-04-2009 11:36 PM

i just walked out to my truck and sat in it for about 10 min just thinking of all the hard work i have put into it and all the dreams i have for it and all the fun times i have and memories i have with it, it has damn near killed me a few times and saved my life a couple times too. i got out and started to walk away and i couldnt help but break down and cry it would be completely different if it wasnt getting crushed some punk as kid is going to have a great time blowing my truck up and not feel bad about it then some guy will crush it and think nothing of it i hate the idea. i just cant cant stand to see my first vehicle get destroyed for no reason

04blackedge 08-04-2009 11:44 PM

Seriously? I didn't look back at my Ranger when I traded it in, for all I know it could have gotten crushed. Its probably sitting in some junkyard right now getting raped by mexicans

Downey 08-04-2009 11:52 PM

yeah seriously dude my truck is the first think i bought a got to drive yeah i had an s10 that i work for for 9 months and then i got to drive for 2 weeks b4 the motor blew but i never got attached to that and i only had a bout 300 bucks invested into it and i never got to make it my own like i did with my truck. i have had my truck for almost 2 year it will be 2 years here at the end of aug. i just have so many memories in this truck its so hard to let go, its like my wrecked probe i have been riding around in that car for 5 years and i told my cousin a couple weeks after he bought it that once he was ready to sell it that i wanted to buy it and i did and then i wrecked it and that was oct 31s of last year and i still have the wrecked car because i cant sell it and now i swapped my parts over that i could to my shell i had and thats the probe im going to sell once i finish it

Danger06Ranger 08-05-2009 12:19 AM

i know how you feel.. i cryd when i blew up my grand am.. i wasnt home to see it go though..

mossyoak03 08-05-2009 12:21 AM

i cried when i got that "late" text one night. but im good now. but its a truck they come and go. if you had maintained it better and tried to prevent all the rust and showed your dad that you care for it and wanted to keep it then no father would take something like that from there son. but they did get you a new car so take the car get rid of the truck and move on.
