If you only knew what was wrong with this truck you would not want to be driving on the road right next to it from the stories I have heard. Honestly I just think its laziness in what he does, I mean who doesn't paint an axle after you do all the work to install it, wouldn't you want it to look nice? How can you brag about something and all the work you put into it and show pics of some rusty axle. |
the storys you have heard probably arent true first of all. second the axle isnt rusty it was dirty in the pictures from drivng it thought a bunch of big puddles when Jason (chevyslayer925) came up then i took pictures. my truck isnt really that dirty i wash it probably once every 2 weeks and i hardly drive it so it doesnt really get dirty.

whether i'm swapping an axle or changing the oil, i always take the extra time to make sure everything is nice and clean as well as looking pretty so i can show it off. that broken leaf, and your previous "shock welding/leave them dangling" issue that we've argued about before on these same interwebz is pretty much like pissing in the wind. b/c you're going to have to take all that stuff apart again to fix it... why not just do it right the first time and have it done with? once again cam, no offense. i mean no harm or disrespect, only an outsiders opinion. and a chicken dance smiley_chicken |
Don't worry Downey, I'll give you all the credit in the world about being passionate about your Ranger, and there's nothing wrong with that. Here's to hoping you can sell the Probe and get any money from the Focus and put it towards your current Ranger or eventually get a new one. Nothing wrong with seeing value in the work you put into a well used vehicle. Quite a commitment given all the miles she's got.
|
you need to remove that passenger side caliper and twist that caliper one turn so the line isnt like one of those twisty straws, get some shorter rear shocks, get that exhaust bent up so you dont whack it on the axle, fix that leaf, get rid of your coat hanger holding the exhaust up and show our parents that this truck means something to you.
|
take it in and have it CRUSHED... I love my truck too but if it meant something bigger and better, id go for it. Plus you are sorta in a tight spot right now not having your name on that title. Nothing really you can do but cry about it and move on! Id go ahead and buy another truck thats newer and has wayyyyy less mileage on it.. 254k is alot and you might be looking at a new motor here any day now. better safe than sorry!

then again, youll never get 4500 for a **** box. parents are going about the cars program the right way. i would do the same and look in the future, theres always somin better. |
Well... since your parents don't want a new vehicle with the proceeds from the Ranger, why don't you use the Ranger as a CARS-eligible vehicle, and trade that, the Probe, and the Focus in on something - perhaps a new Ranger?

Is that seriously 1 leaf spring and an overload spring? Cam....this happened MONTHS ago....is your truck STILL this way?

If you got 3 vehicles...Gotta get rid of one. You should have your dad pay you back for the payments you've made, then sell the probe or the focus and buy something newer with less problems....Personally I would sell the probe and the focus...Honda and Nissan know little econoboxes better than Ford ever will, and probes are...well, you said your probe doesnt run...nuff said bout that.
Anyone know if it would be possible to get a few parts off these cash for clunkers cars before they get tossed? Wouldnt mind getting some free/cheap seats and door panels. Anyone know of anyone getting some stuff off the dealers? Think I might try... |
my focus gets 35 mpg and my parents wouldnt let me get rid of it, its there car and the probe is being sold as soon as i have it finished and that money is paying off the rest of my truck. i have stated this a couple times in this theard but w.e

Take this as you will but it might be time to move on. I am saying this and yet I still own my 01 Focus I bought new and my 72 F250 I bought in 97 and haven't driven sence 2000. I picked up a 83 F250 4x4 for $1300 with 180K. Drove it for like 6 months and the lower end started knocking. Pondered it and bit the bullet to have the motor rebuilt. $2g for motor. A few months after that I got T-Boned in the truck. Drove it around for 6-8 months like that and than did a cab swap. Got truck repainted. I owned the truck for like 3 years total. Ex-girlfriend talked me into selling it as I needed the money. Got $1500 for it with 20K on the new motor. Lots of memories with this truck. I still miss the 83 and wish I never sold it but it's gone and I have new memories and experiences with the new truck that I would not have had with the 83. I say swap the parts out, or at least the transfer. Sell the probe and any extra ranger parts and hopefully you have $2000 from that (guessing you sold the expo rear). I would keep the manual t-case. Drive the Focus and save up. In no time you should have a better ranger to start to make yours. |
ur screwed dude, i only read the first page but ur screwed. im in the same situation with my volkswagen. my dad traded my 1971 volkswagen bus for a pos boat which make 3 boats, 2 of which are junk. but ur in my prayers dude. good luck to ya

And if you really love it as much as you say, and are dead set on keeping it, get the title in your name, get rid of that bed, while the bed is off, get that frame undercoated so it doesn't rust in two, fix that rusted out cab mount (if you haven't already). Make the truck worth putting a motor into, because even though its "260k and going strong" its still got 260k on it, and its not going to run forever. You've got the Focus, and if the truck is down for months, it'll be ok. You will still have something to drive, and will have at least ensured a little more time for the truck. My 93, my first truck, my pride and joy, crapped out on me. I loved the truck, but I couldn't justify sinking money into it. And it was a North Georgia truck with ZERO rust. |
I would listen to my dad. If it helps out the family then I would do it. I am only 17 though. And to be honest, I think 1 car at my age is a lot so adding two more over the next couple of years seems rediculous.
Get rid of the truck and drive your nice new Focus. |

I have payed every single penny for my truck and I have all the check stubs and payment slips to prove it.... SO when you go to court and show the judge that you payed for a vehicle that was sold without your consent arnt you are legally entilted to something...? |

Or you could be stubborn about it and about the time you pay it off, time to pay for a new engine and tranny. If you dont start fixxing all the little **** wrong with it, you are going to have a POS before you know it. |

Maybe I missed something but it sounds like his mom doesn't NEED a new car... as long as she has one that runs I think it's fine he wants to keep his truck...
