Help?? Powertrain issue?

Hi, I have a ford ranger 3.2 limited 63 plate. I was driving down the motor way yesterday and all of a sudden the car powertrain Symbol and traction symbol came on. The car went into a limp mode and speed was reduced significantly. I travelled another 10miles like this untill I turned the car off. When car was turned back on all light dissapperd. Does anybody have a explanation to why this could be?

Welcome to our North American Ranger forum

You Ranger is a T6 Ranger model, different from ours, its larger and has different engines and transmissions

The smaller North American Ranger was made from 1983 to 2012
We will get the T6 Ranger version in 2019, they are building them here now but they won't be sold until late 2018.
And they will also have different engines, gasoline only most likely.

You are in the UK?
So your T6 Ranger was most likely built in South Africa
There is a forum here: Ford & Mazda

This is english language and for the T6 Ranger models

My guess is that you have a failing transmission shaft speed sensor, so computer couldn't see Ratio changes and went in to Limp Mode because of that.
Sensor still works, or you would get continuous Fault light, but at speed it will probably fail again.
ABS wheel sensor could also cause similar issues
