Sold my 99 ex-cab to my kid and now the passenger rear door will not release at the bottom. Anyone run into this before? Top will release but not the bottom latch.

 

release rod probably came off the handle

 

Any idea on how to get to it with the door shut?

 

gonna have to pull the handle out....door panel will only come off if the door is open

 

you might be able to use a thin flat head screwdriver to pop the lower lock open. i have done it that way before on other trucks from the inside

 

or pull out the handle and pull on the rod going down to the lock

 

The handle has two cables I can grab and pull but nothing happens.

Did you ever solve your door latch problem. Am having same issue. Even took pliers to exposed cable in handle to pull a little harder. I can feel the pull and even feels like a release but bottom latch still does not release.

 

Sold the truck off. Problem solved.

Never was able to fix it.
