How to get rear cargo to come on with door open?

I noticed today when my father in law was working on a new f150 that when the door was open that the cargo light came on and thought it was cool. How can you mod it to do that on the ranger?
NOTE: it was not being repaired, my father in law was doing vinyl lettering for a local dealership.

You could probably take the cargo lights wires and splice them into the dome light so they're on at the same time (when the door opens)

I always thought It was weird that the Cargo lights on the ranger didn't come on when the door was open. It seems that they do on most other trucks. This would be a mod i'd be interested in... if its possible.

im sure you could connect the cargos to whatever rely the domelight is on....

but it seems kind worthless to me becuae more then likly your gunna close the door if your getting stuff our of the bed so youd have to roll the light **** anyways...

i would rather it have a switch... so you could tunr the bed light on without the dome light... i hate that crap...

when i go riding we usually leave the night before, camp then ride the next day... anyhow i usually pack as much stuff into the bed of my truck as i can... dirtbike, tent, chairs, colman grill...ect

and when i flip on the bed light to check on the stuff while driving or stoped at a light i get blinded by the damn dome light... and it makes it imposible to see out of the truck with the reflection of the dome on the back glass...... grrr

wait a sec... as i thought about what i typed a sec ago... i started thinking...

when you slide the dimmer switch all the way to the top... the dome light comes onand the bed light.... but when you open the doors, or keylessly unlock the truck... the doom light comes on but not the bed light....

i wonder what the wiring scematic(sp?) is for the doom light circuit and the bed light circuit....

it seems like the have to link up somewhere... maybe to do the "bed light on with door ajar" mod it would be just a matter of replacing a relay...

This is correct. Just cut the black/pink wire feeding the cargos and insulate the end coming from the truck harness. Then extend the remaining end (attached to the cargo light assembly) and tee it to the black/light blue going to the dome light.

Wired this way, the cargo lights will come on whenever a door is opened or any other time the dome light comes on. This means that they will also come on when the dimmer is rolled to its stop, just like before.
