Hey all, have a couple Q's
Hey there,
I was rear-ended the other day and now my rear bumper points down at a 45 degree angle. From what I can tell, the only thing that needs replacing are the bumper mounts. I am curious if anyone might know what I could be seeing cost wise. I'll prolly just hit a salvage yard to get them super cheap.
Also, I bought my truck from carmax last year, how do I remove their sticker from the tailgate?
One last q, where can I find a nerf bar/light bar for my sportbed? I have seen them for reg. beds, but not sport. I'd like to find one in black.
Thanks!
Here is a pic of my truck:

Sorry to heard about your truck but it looks like you got of lucky. Pull the bumper and look to see what got damaged it may not be all that bad might even be able to straighten out the mounts. If not hit the used auto parts yard and get a straight set shouldn't be to difficult to find.
For the sticker get a hair dryer and heat it up should get the glue soft enough to peel it off, then a little soap and water to touch it up or some polishing compound (not rubbing).
Nerf bars go on the front of the truck so it is the same cab as all the rest. If your talking for the bed then you mean a headache bar you might have to get that made or check the classified.
Good luck!
Get a hitch, for the next time someone rearends you it will save the bumper!

I had my bumper mounts bent at a 45 before too, from pulling a stock trailer down a rough road and through a field. I put a 20 ton jack (its what I had handy) under the trailer ball and jacked it up. The wife daughter and I got in the back of the pickup and jumped up and down. Odd way to fix it, but it worked perfect. As for the carmax sticker, a hair dryer to warm it up so you can peel it off, then some adhesive remover, alcohol, or wd40 for the adhesive.

Ah, thanks for the tips!
Well, now if things couldn't get worse for my truck, they did. Some idiot last night came thru the neighborhood and busted out the driver side window of my truck and a neighbors car. Nothing stolen thankfully, but it is snowing with a possibility of getting 10" today.
Yeah me....

Sorry to see, bumper mounts shouldn't be more than $20 a piece at an average salvage yard I'd think. As for the sticker, either heating it and pealing with a plastic knife, or an eraser wheel on a drill would be your two best and least damaging options.
Do NOT do this, you're just asking for paint chips.

Man, this blows. I got an estimate today for the truck. Repairs will cost a little over $800. The downside is, I am being forced to have the repairs made by the lien holder. Insurance cut me a check, but the lien holder has to sign it as well and won't endorse it until repairs have been made. Sheesh, I thought I was gonna walk off with some money in my pocket.
EDIT> Estimate include a whole new rear bumper. It won't be OEM either. The new bumper will more than likely be all chrome.

Not much really. The bumper brackets are bent down, a small ding with a tiny amount of paint, and a nick on one of the rear quarter panels.
They are replacing the whole bumper assy which will cost $500 plus prep and paint. I wanted to replace the brackets myself; but, since the lien holder is involved, nothing I can do to put some extra cash in my pocket.
Oh well, as long as it gets fixed.

Yeah, spoke with my insurance agent again about the bumper. Supposed to be the exact same bumper I have already. I sure hope it don't rust out though!
Also, has anyone had problems getting a door window replaced? I had mince changed at Safelite. Dang thing rocks in its channel and doesn't seal proper w/o my help. They ordered a new window. Hope they get it right this time.

I did take it back to the shop. The guy there said there wasn't anything he could adjust. Claimed it was a badly made window. I took the door apart my self and the window is riveted onto the channel. We shall see here in a couple days.
