I need the rumble!! (Exhaust Question)

Ok, I was looking under my truck today, and noticed a few things.

A:) My Muffler case seems to be open on the sides, I'll get pics while I'm out..

B:) I don't have a heat shield for the muffler, is that stock for '98? And what is it's purpose of shielding?

C:) I want more of a rumble from my truck, not louder, just a rumble, any under $40.00 things I can do?

Your muffler is open on the sides????? what?

your best bet to get good rumble for under 40$ is to cut off your exhaust......

Thats all your going to get for 40$

just cut off the muffler and leave the cats or cut the cats and leave the muffler. and also have turn downs so the sound echos off the ground give it a lil more deeper tone i got the 4 bagger just with the 70 serise flow master dumped with no cats and its sounds like such crap and i love it

Sawsaw to cut it off? Should I cut it off after there is something supporting it, or right after the muffler?

go to your local muffler shop and ask how much to get a turbo muffler with install you dont need the whole exhaust or anyhting shouldent be more then 60 bucks installed just save for a week or so and look for change..

my muffler shop installed a used flowmaster with some pipe to the axle with a turn down for 70 bucks for everything

I've found all of my parts for my 5.0 swap with research on the internet. I've also sold lots of my parts from my 2.5 using the internet. Get to know it.....it can be useful.

Go to www.google.com and type in "auto salvage in Jacksonville, FL"

a Flowmaster 40 series si/do DUMPED will get your truck to rumble (for a V6 anyways)

I mentioned it to my mom,

She goes,

Oh jeez, Josh please don't, those things are so annoying!

LOL

So like I said, not TOO loud..

How about some audio from other V6'ers?

I had a cat back gibson on my 2005 and it was exactly what your looking for. its more expensive then 50 dollars, though. But it had that nice rumble down low, but it wasnt droning on the highway or anything.

Honestly, the Borla on a 3.0 isn't very loud. On the 4.0 it's a whole other story and has a completely different sound.

My magnaflow pops when im downshifting.

Honestly ive never heard a borla muffler on a Ranger....I know for people looking for an aftermarket quietER exhaust, gibson is usually perfect because its an easy install and relatively quiet for the most part

Gibson is definitely the most quiet choice for a muffler on a 3.0.
