I need some help, opinions and decisions...

ok ive got about a million things runing through my head right now, one of them is the front bumper. in case anyone didnt know they are expensive im talking 600 just for the bumper and valance.

these are some of the ideas ive got going.

ideas

1. take it back exactly like it was(or close)

2. Make a bumper like the one pictured below. and leave the rest how it was.

3. Make a bumper like the one below, remove the body lift, get front glass fenders and find a fleetside bed. or stick with a flareside.

4. name it. whatever you think would look good.

all the time im worried about busting up the front bumper/valance while im out messing around... playing in the snow, sand, whatever.

at the same time im not really too excited about wheeling right now.

the bumper. hope you dont mind me using your picture gone_ballistic

i have always hated BLs so if you can afford it all, go for the glass and fleetside bed (not a fan of flareside either). Ryans front end looks very sick in person so if you get a similar one it would look so very good.

I say either prerunner bumper or stock, leave the BL on there. The glass is going to cost ya in the end just as much and the paint on some of the glass fenders I have seen looks like trash.

I like that one and i also like this one that a guy on ORR has. Either way they would be nice. Gumby has a tube bumper also.

Your truck flows very well the way it was, if you end up going glass and prerunner front I think it will mess up the flow of it. It just all depends on what you are looking for, a clean look or more of a offroad look?

well im thinking i dont want to break stuff anymore. it sucks royaly, so if i want to wheel i need to make it stronger. and the stock parts arent the answer for making it stronger.

I agree, its the call now if you dont want to go stock weather you wanna take the Body Lift off and glass or just bumper only. I would say bumper only but thats just me.

I say get a fleetside bed..keep the BL, and get a level 2 front bumper. Basically, bills truck in sonic blue

just my .02 cents!!!!

or if you don't keep the BL, go get a flareside bed, take off the BL and you shouldn't even need to flare bedsides!

i mean if interceptor is fitting 35's on just a bl...you should fit it on just your susp lift!!!

yea zack with the BL on there you almost need more tube than justa single, cause the gap is huge in front, and there is too much nasty open frame and stuff, id say if u want the best look take it off and work yer way around being 3" lower

I think that bumper that covers the headlights is more functional then normal prerunner bumpers. I honestly think most prerunner bumpers in a "head on" or direct force crash are pretty damn weak. But with those lower supports they have they tend to climb obstacles(lets say...vehicle hoods lol). Also, your stock bumper looks much better than aftermarket bumpers.

I dunno, if you're lookin for pretty, get a lil prerunner bumper or most likely keep it stock(and expensive!) If you're lookin for functional, big ol fatty prerunner bumper.

And I'm a lil confused, how was a body lift supposed to help you get unstuck? Does it tell you to not do stupid things? Is it have some second use as a winch? stack the blocks and it turns into a highlift? To me it looks like maybe it helped by keeping the body higher(hopefully to get not as much damage)

Aaron

He is talking about the bed and frame damage to the rear Aaron. If the Body Lift was not on there then the damage to those components may have not happened.

im curious to see what your truck would look like with the b/l still on and stock bumper with out the vallance. If it looks good, then you can build a skidpate and have the crossmember for the hooks (which needs to be fixed as u said). I honestly cannot see your truck looking pre-runner style with the glass fenders... no way jose!

Zach, Don't listen to them! Keep It HIGH! I also say stick with the flareside bed(it's part of your trucks personality). I also like the look of the stock front bumper/valance, but you don't wanna mess it up. So get/make something stronger that will go with th flow of the truck or figure out how to reenforce the stock bumper. If you keep your BL you should be high enough to avoid most snow/sand piles. You have learned a lesson on what to and what not to do, just keep in mind the price of repairs when you think about doing something stupid.

All in all I say take it back to the way it was or as close as possible(looks wise) and make stronger what needs to be made stronger.

That was my two cents. Hope it helps.

Hey zach, are you talking about the cross member in the front. If so,cut it off inside the frame rails with a torch or hand grinder. And weld a tube between the frame rails then you can make it as strong as you like.Yea the tube bumper would look swweeet and alot stronger than stock.

So, you just want to know what looks good? You really haven't specified what functionality you want to make any kind of decision about what changes to make -- other than not breaking stock parts.

I'd also like to note that your breakage was due to poor extraction technique, not an inherently weak design. So, I don't know as any kind of "reaction" to the breakage should be excessive -- unless you're just dripping with money or something.
