Well today i decided to stop and get codes pulled on the truck because the check engine light was bugging me. It turned out to be "insuficient cooling temperature" which i figured it was. So they told me to get a new thermostat, come back and they would clear the check engine light.

So i pick up a thermostat from western auto for 6.99 (AAP informed me that it would be $10 from them and $11 from ford).

Since i have little experience of what's going on under my hood, i take it to a friend who knows what he's doing. After about 3 hours of looking for the thermostat housing, he decided to keep it over night and take it to work in the morning to ask some of the Mazda guys he knows if they could figure it out. So until then i'm stuck with his Civic. I should get it back sometime tomorrow around 1. I miss my truck in the driveway :-(

Anyway, on that reciept, what are the two things above it? Two other problems?

Anyway, this was just my exciting day.

My guess is where mine is, the top hose goes to the block where a neck is, the metal neck un-bolts and its sandwitched in between the block and the neck

P0125-INSUFFICIENT COOLANT TEMP FOR CLOSED-LOOP FUEL CONTROL
When Monitored: With battery voltage greater than 10.4 volts, after engine is started.
Set Condition: The engine temperature does not go above a calibrated value. Failure time
depends on start-up coolant temperature and ambient temperature. (i.e. 2 minutes for a
start temp of 10°C (50°F) or up to 5 minutes for a vehicle with a start-up temp of -7°C
(20°F). Two Trip Fault.

----------------------------------
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
LOW COOLANT LEVEL
THERMOSTAT OPERATION
ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

-----------------------------------------------------------------
To fix this from what i can find, is drain all your coolent and put the new termostat in. then we can go from there if that doesnt work

yeah, over the summer my truck decided to kill it's thermostat....even worse, i was on my way to my job interview....so here i was, rushing to try and get to work....i'm nervous cuz i see the temp gauge pushin up to the H mark...and i know what can happen in an overheating....i roll the windows up and turn the heat on full blast (helps cool the block down)....this is all in like 98 degree SUMMER weather....ugh it was crap...i went to the interview, got the job, went to autozone, changed my 'stat in a dentist's parking lot...never had a problem since...

I think all you have to do to get rid of the check engine light is disconnect your negetive battery terminal for like 10 minutes. If I'm not mistaken, that resets your computer and turns off the light. (Provided the problem is fixed).
