I don't know if Bob or John are still up at this late hour, but if one of y'all is, just wanted to clarify something about the blend door actuator.

In John's how-to extravaganza, he mentions buying the blend door servo, but then goes through the process to remove it from the donor car. Atleast I *think* that's what he talks about immediately following the blurb about buying the blend door actuator.

Am I reading this correctly? Do I need to pull this from the donor vehicle or buy one? Or is it up to me? Or is he telling me here how to remove a different piece? Just trying to clarify! I know I will still need the connector and plug regardless, so I am trying to be prepared.

It's your call but I got a new one as John recommended. High mile Explorers get these changed regularly at the dealer for several hundred bucks. The chances of getting a good one at the boneyard are small and it would probably fail sooner rather than later. This is the one part you should buy new, especially because it is rather difficult to R&R.

Also, try to get the blower control module from the latest Ex/Mountaineer you can find (up through 2001). The later ones were improved and these also fail with time and miles.

Yes, I meant the fan speed controller that mounts beside the blower in the HVAC plenum. Some of these had corrosion issues - the first one I installed from a 98 lasted about a week before going belly up. I replaced it with a better looking one from a 99 and it has been working fine for about 18 months.

ok thanks Bob! I got everything I needed today! I've got pictures but they are at home. The internet took a crap at my house for some reason so I am at my girlfriend's feeding my R-F addiction! I got the headunit, all three sensors, the blend door actuator harness, and all the wiring to go with it. I bought a new blend door actuator and it will be here in the morning.

Got all the EATC and OHC stuff today! And it cost me a total of.... $125 at the junk yard and $67 at the Ford Dealer!!!
