L.E.D Tail light bulbs........

Well my regular bulbs decided to blow after not even a month after i got them. I got pulled over lastnight from the local cops and go a repair order. so i got 10 days to fix it. Funny thing was autozone, napa, advanced auto's, wal-mart, did not have "RED" colored bulbs for my brake/running lights in the rear. So I figured i might as well and jus throw some leds in there. So I saw these:

I think it is worth it. Looks that that they will plug right up. Is there anything I need to know about L.E.D'S before i purchase em? Just wondering thats all.

The reason none of the auto parts stores carry red incandescent bulbs s because there is no such thing as a red DOT complaint bulb. Nobody makes them. To make one would require the use of actual gold and is not practical. This is why every vehicle on the market comes with a taillights that have red lenses of some kind.

Now, companies like APC and other rice-rocket-retroftters make red tinted bulbs anyway. If you can find them, they will work. Those LED's you found suck, plain and simple.

Those are probably better than the first ones but I have no personal experience with those. Yes, you will need the load resistor thingies.

I had those at one time, and you couldn't even see them through the covers and without the covers they were extremely dim and only showed up at night.

No, the load resistors trick the signal flasher into thinking it is a normal bulb. The properties of an LED would normally make the truck think there is bulb out.

You can always go to a 18 wheeler aka "big Truck" Chrome shop. I have one just around the corner here is Dallas. They have all kinds of LEDS. They even sell the resisters. The resisters make is to your turn signals don't flash fast like they do when you have a bulb out. The load is so low that the truck thinks you have a light out.

I have the same taillights and the same bulbs you posted in your first post. And they really suck, they're not bright at all.

is it possible to use a 3 pin flasher fuse or in this case it says for FORDS a 5 pin instead of the load resisters....i saw those but i dont know if we have that type of fuse up under the hood anywhere to use instead of the resistors....i have the resistors and rear led's but im watin to get em for the front turn bulbs....is this supposed to do the same thing???

Here is a LINK to ebay that sells em. im gonna send him and email and see whats up with these....rather use this seems SAFER in the long run.

i recieved a reply from the fellow at the eBay site....this is his reply. and i quote.

"The 5 pin flasher we offer works and we also offer flasher that works with 2 and 3 pin."

so apparently you do not need to run resistors anymore....i guess.

What you ordered will work! I hope those LED's work out to be brighter than the uni-directional ones that you found initially. Since these cast light in all directions, they will probably be brighter and much more visible.

What about really bright reverse lights, do they make those for our rangers? Do they even really work that good?
