Last time: Which truck should I get?

Here we go:

2003 FX4 Level II -- Sonic Blue -- Twin Sticks
67,000 Miles.

$13,000

or

2006 FX4 Level II -- Redfire Metallic -- Auto
73,000 Miles.

$12,000

Please discuss, because one of these is gonna be MINE. I think.

Why? Tell me reasons. I like the three years newer part. Remember that I live in DC with crappy traffic and a 5-speed isn't necessarily ideal, but I like the idea...

Please give me reasons!

Twins sticks are valuable. Manual 4x4 is waaaaay more reliable

I personally would go with the 2006. One its three years newer, two it's $1000 cheaper than an older one, and three it's a auto (but that's my personal preference).

If you do alot of traffic I would do the Auto... The twin sticks is nice a Nice truck. But traffic and A 5 speed is not very fun... If you were anywhere out of the city I would say 03 all day long.

I would say the sonic blue, just because it's got less miles/ year. The red one has probly been driven a lot more, and to me that means a busy owner, that's probly too busy to take care of it. Could be wrong. Plus, twin sticks is a good thing. I'd make a lower offer on the newer one if you're gonna choose it.

Swoop while yes the manual transfer case is nice, the manual transmissions on these trucks suck, especially with any engine modifications. Before making a final choice though get the Vin find out where the '03 was made. If it was made in edison NJ go for it and have some upgrades made to the tranny. If not then go witht he '06 or keep looking. In case you forgot the Edison NJ plant had the highest initial build quality of all ford vehicle plants, before it was shut down.

I'd go with the stick 03. Chances are it was maintained better because of how much the newer one was driven. Plus, you feel much more 'connected' when driving a stick.

Although the color of that red one is really nice.

I like the red one because it is an automatic, but the blue one has a lot less miles for the year. If it were me I'd go with the Sonic Blue Ranger.

Busy owner, true -- but then again I've slapped over 10,000 miles on my new Focus that I bought less than 4 months ago. I've washed the thing once a week and waxed it twice in that timeframe. But, alas, you all know how insane I am. Good point.

I either indeed forgot that, or I never knew it in the first place. The 11th character in the VIN of the Sonic Blue truck is T, which signifies Edison, NJ. Why do the manual trannies suck?

Judging by the pictures alone, the blue one looks nicer.

Id also shoot for the 03. Better looking front end, imo. Plus that sonic blue is sexy. And you can't beat twin sticks. I love driving a 5 speed.

I mean, anything can be "cleaned up" for pictures, but this looks really well maintained. I've heard back from the guy more often with the Blue one as well. He is the second owner, not sure of his age, but he knew what he was talking about when I tried to bluff him on the Level II jazz. He was like, "Uh, no. The Level II is blah blah blah." Sounds like he was into the truck. He just wants a 150 or larger.

Here are the other pics: It looks clean, ya know? Planning on seeing it on Saturday. I knew my truck inside and out -- but is there anything I should look for?

03 for twin sticks and the blue, very sexy.

06 for interior.

personally i wanted to drive a 4.0 with a stick and an auto.
the saying of "being more connected with a stick." bs the stick feels like garbage in that truck. you cant hear the revs and cant feel much in the stick. plus the shifts are long and kinda weak feeling when your in the gear. then i found out about the plastic internal slave on the manuals... nuff said there

personanly i love the autos. yes they are not the best for super power, but in all honesty im not a hardcore wheeler in it, im rarly towing. and i feel more connected in an auto in this truck. btw this in IMO so if you dont like it i kindly invite you to gtfo! =)

if i could have a pipe dream in the ranger department it would be a level II and it would be sonic blue and it would be an 06 and it would have an auto. plus a the orw/fox set up on sl suspesoin and a 3"bl on 35's.... like i said pipe dream! lol

My old truck was perfect. Sonic Blue, Auto. Grr. Maybe I should hold out till I find me an auto -- but this seems like a good deal on a nice truck! Maybe I can nab it cheap!

The auto's have twice the towing capacity of the manuals. the auto's have more configuration options with a tuner and honestly it makes off roading easier.
