The "Lets hurt the Ranger" thread

I was chopping up some deadfall this afternoon for firewood. A big chunk of oak tree had fallen down during the last storm right next to the driveway, so I decided it was time to do something about it. After getting a considerable amount cut to size, I started to toss the logs into the driveway to bring into my garage. Well, the first log I tossed bounced twice across my driveway, somehow got 4 feet of air, and then slammed right into the side of my Ranger with a devastating thwack. In fact, it happened to hit the only part of my truck that DIDNT have any body damage. WTF. If only I had thought that one through for about 3 seconds. Now I have a huge dent that I know is going to need repair and possibly paint in the near future.

Please make me feel better, and share some of your "Why the !@!$ did I do that" moments.

Dang, I almost did that with my spare tire once. Im glad I only hit my rocker panel, which Im putting bed liner on so no big deal. No dents though.

When I bought my new house last year, we had a dead tree in the front yard. It was leaning against another couple of trees, so it couldnt fall. Well, I had the bright idea (stupidest idea ever) to try and push it with my truck. I put it in 4lo, and pushes up against the tree. I heard a nice "creek" noise. After giving up, I pulled my truck into the driveway and got out. I noticed that I had bent my bumper downwards, making an UGLY gap b/t front grille and bumper.

I closed the garage door on my F250's tailgate. Didn't even think about the truck being too long to fit in the garage and hit the button to close the door out of habit. When I heard that awful sound I knew the door had gone down the tailgate and stopped on the bumper, then I had to open it making it even more painful. That's my WTF moment, at least it didn't do hardly any damage other than some minor scratches. I don't think I've ever had a moment like that with the Ranger.

I remember your bumper taking a hit when you were off-roading.

Yeah, both the front and rear have. Lucky for me though those were expected damage.

I had a propane cylinder smash into the back side of of my tailgate. i've dropped tons of wood on the bed and put mini dents into it. My wife took it once to take our recycling to the center and set the little plastic bin on the bed side, scratched it up crazyily. where my rollbar meets the bed has been rubbed raw. i've got a scratch across the tailgate from using my truck to haul some bushes that hung out.
I'm pretty mean to the paint of my truck now that i put it all out here.

Tonite I backed my truck into the swing under the shed. Bad thing is that I left it there myself, only left a small scratch on the bumper. Still enough to **** me off. Couple of years ago I slid into a tree at the lake and dented the rocker just above the tailpipe. Didnt help that it was raining and muddy. That dents really only noticeable when the truck is clean. The bed has seen more than its share of scratches and dings the last few years. Still would rather have my truck than a brand new one!

Dang, that sucks on f250 tailgate! Its also a little bit funny though, I def. would have laughed a little at myself if did that. What ticks me off is, I could have just walked the wood into the garage, this didn't have to happen... Now my eyes are going to subconciously focus on that dent, every single time I get into my truck. I just know it!

I have slid mine into multiple trees offroad and dragged the rocker panel across a tree stump. One of those "I slid into that stump and there's nothing I can do now but drive and drag" moments. All in a day's work.

leaned on the passenger side rear door once, and it pushed in and made a tiny dimple. I can't stand it everytime I see it. And i can't pop it out from the inside because the supports inside the door blocks it. I just need one of those little suction dent poppers to get it out, but its at the bottom of my list of things to do lol. didn't even crack the paint.

Front bumper on the passenger side is coming apart (Yes apart) from Idling towards a building ......... Twice.

Bed has a dent in it from a buddys car ramps hitting it (Its small but it swapped paint with the bed)

My Drivers door has mini dings in it from where I parked too close to the handicaped ramp we built for my grandmother when she was alive

My dad has knocked my rear bumper with the lawn mower and chipped paint before

AND FINALLY .....

Volunteering with my church after Hurricane Irene (this year/2011) and did not see a pump house that was hidden behind a grapevine partially and now my door had a kind of concave look to it

Can’t help make you feel good but just missed the side of the truck with big axle 8.8.
Was loading it for a sand blasting run and the chain slipped, how/why who knows but all I could see was the damage that would come out of this poor lifting method.

"Wham bam thank you mam”, NO DAMAGE !

Knock on Wood… I was lucky that day.

After reading ya'lls stories, it makes my dent seem almost trivial. So thanks. I actually tore the whole front end off my truck a few months after I got it. Was drifting around a turn on an old forest road, and ended up in a ditch against a tree. Yet somehow, I don't mind damage to my truck as much if it happens while I'm driving it, or using it offroad as its intended.
