So the light behind my gas gauge has been out for about 4 months...more recently one behind my speedo went out. I noticed last night on the way home from school that the light on my speedo was still out, but my gas guage light works now...weird

 

thats how mine is, half my gauge cluster doesn't work, I can read my tach, gas gauge, and oil temp, but the speedo, engine temp, and the other gauge on that side don't work. The light off the tach gives me enough to see up through 55mph, but thats it.

must be something with the 02s

 

I just happened to be taking my out today, so I snapped a picture of the back of them for you.

You can see the 6 black twist-lock connectors that hold the 194 base bulbs. Twist these out to remove the bulb.

 

I have dead lights in my dash, how hard to change myself?

Not the hardest thing to do, but not the easiest either. Get a Chilton's manual. It shows how to pull apart your gauge cluster to get to the lights. Takes a couple of hours.

 

Not really a couple of hours. It only took me 10 minutes during PATS installation today

Remove the knee-board cover
Remove the metal knee-board
Remove the radio bezel
Remove all screws from dash bezel and work between shift lever, steering wheel, and dash panel to remove
Remove screws surrounding gauges

 

If you have to go in, make sure to replace all of the bulbs - if one is out, others are sure to follow! Also, look for 194LL bulbs (long life)

 

If ne one ever needs to pull a Gen II cluster out, let me know, i've done a few... hah

 

Yeah, if you've done it a few times. Just like anything else, the first time takes the longest...did for me anyway! 'course I'm mechanically challenged.

 

Has nobody documented this procedure with images? I know it has been discussed hundreds of times.
