Load capacity in 4 cylinder 2011

So I am looking to haul a load of dirt this weekend to use in my yard with my 2011 4cyl regular cab. How much dirt should I put in my bed to haul to my house, up a hill, without making her cry too much. Thanks!

Rangers are rated for 1/2 ton, so 1,000lbs of weight

How much dirt that is depends on the dirt, dry or wet makes a BIG difference

Dirt is often sold by the "yard", a yard of anything is what would fit into a 3ft by 3ft by 3ft cube, concrete, gravel or dirt

A yard of dirt can weight 1,500 to 3,000 pounds, back to the wet/dry thing
So 1/2 a yard of dirt that is DRY should be OK

What is often better is to rent a trailer to haul dirt or rent a full size truck, for short hauling distances
Way less wear and tear on your vehicle for this type of use, unless its going to be a weekly thing, lol

Rangers standard 6ft bed is 72 inches long by 54 inches wide
Step side is 48 inches wide

So 1 yard of dirt would cover the standard bed 12 inches high, 72 x 54 x 12 = 46,656 cubic inches = 1 cubic yard
1/2 a yard would be 6 inches high
That should give you an idea of the volume of dirt in the bed
Yes there are wheel wells taking up space, lol, but it ain't that much
