i plan to hid my truck if one of the bulbs burns out ... those $55 hi lo kits seem like a great idea

 

Don't get the hi/lo kits. They're junk. Go with the single beam HID kit. Trust me.

No one with the single beam kit has high beams

 

I wish I could stress this enough for someone to believe me. You don't need high beams. These work much better than a any high beam out there.

Good for you. You'll also note that I haven't directly told anyone not to put HID's on their vehicle.

Sorry if I list the dangers of doing something to your vehicle. Dangers to others, not just yourself. After all this is a general ranger discussion board in a thread about HID's on a forum open to the public.

And I can only laugh at the comment that you don't need high beams. If you had projection housings, this wold be the truth. But the only reason you "dont need high beams" when you put HID's in halogen housings is because you are driving around with your brights on all the time.

The light isn't magically any more focused than halogen light if the halogen bulb is decent. It is just brighter and of a slightly better temperature.

 

i was just asking general knowledge wise cause when i was into hondas all the cars i had had a seperate bulb, so youd have an hid low and halogen high.

35W 3000k same wattage as headlight kit.

Got them aimed and everything and new fog lights and dang they are smexxy at night.

 

I am going to be nice in asking you to please leave this thread alone. You have caused nothing but a fight to it. This thread was to show a few mods not for you to go off about HIDs if you wish to do so please make a new thread and leave mine alone.

You like eh?! I got my 3000k fogs up and running again... Had a bad ballast after a year and a half and couldn't drive with them for 3 weeks and man, what a difference! lol

 

I am in love. I love having the yellow and blue mix.. Which may lead me to having to get a 8000k or 10000k kit for bluer light. my 6000k are almost a white.

 

Yeah... You know what looks really cool?

12,000k Headlights with 3,000k fogs. Shane ran it for awhile. Seriously, coolest combo for sure!

 

I still want the output though I drive alot of mtn roads with moose and deer.

Yeah my 6000k look really white as well. I'll see how they look throwing light out tonight. I don't know if I want to go with a 4300 or 3000 fog though, what do you guys think.

You are braking the law by doing what you are doing and endangering other people. If you were just braking the law and not possibly hurting anyone else, you would not have heard a peep out of me. Victimless crimes are BS IMO.

If you dont want people to comment about it, show off to yourself and to other people who share the same mentality about the subject. Again, this is a forum open to the public in a thread about HID's. My posts are not out of place.

 

I would say go 3000k I love them.

 

I have 6000k in my headlights and love them, and I added them because I love the 8000k 55w kit I put in my Saab. Whoever said once you go HID you won't go back is certainly correct lol.

I'm thinking of doing my fogs now, just because currently they are so overpowered by the HID headlights it seems pointless to turn them on, but am concerned about the ballasts being exposed to the weather, and puddles lol. I have aftermarket H3 projector fogs, not the OEM ones, but I would still need a safe place for a ballast mount.

I've also read that to actually use fog lights correctly, you should turn them on and your headlights off. No one actually drives like this in fog though, and I'm not sure from the factory if you can operate this way in a lot of vehicles.

Also how good are the HID fogs in actual fog?
