Loud noises in cab @ hwy speed - Wheel Bearings?!

Hey Ive got some serious humming/vibrating when im driving at highway speeds (usually 85+ Km/h) and was looking for thoughts.
I need to rotate the tires and that may help, but what about Lubing the Axles? Would that be a possible cause?

Any other thoughts as to what i should check out? Im at 97,000kms right now and ive never really changed any fluids (except oil and tranny fluids of course) so any hints would be nice.

Thanks

could be tires, misbalanced tires, bad ujoints, check for play in the front driveshaft, wheel bearings....

is it front or rear? or dont know?

do you have the mud terrains on yet?

The sound is in the front, and the wheels are balanced (no shaking like that). The muds are on but theyve been on for about 7000kms and havent been this loud...Oh, and in terns of any play, everything seems nice and tight.

my MTRs were quiet at first then they got loud, nice and loud. most mudders are this way, quiet at first then loud.

Well, i took off the muds and put on my old all terrains....the sound is there and i think its the wheel bearings in the front. Noisy when driving straight ahead, but if i turn the wheel to the right (while driving at hwy speed) the noise completely goes away. If i turn it to the left, the noise is still there.....Im thinking is the bearings....

So my question is....

1. how much to replace them cuz i dont know which side to replace and if its not too $$$, ill just do both front ones while im at it.

2. HOW?!?

thanks to anyone with help

If I'm not mistaken you cant just replace the bearings on 4x4's but I could be wrong.
unless you know its the bearings I wouldnt throw parts at it until you know what it is.

you replace the hub, the hub can be removed by 3 bolts on the back side of the spindle.

this can be done by using a 1-1/4" socket and removing the cv, next you will prolly need to pop the upper balljoint to pull the cv out all the way, then you can remove the 3 bolts that hold the hub. after that you will need to beat the hub out, sometimes they are very hard to remove.

then reverse the process.

honestly that isnt the first place i would start. if i remember right the hubs (which includes the bearings) is around 200 bucks each.

sometimes a CV can cause a hum noise. check for play in the CV shafts.

I would say if you can turn the wheel to the right and the noise goes away then replace the right hub. This noise you are hearing is pretty common on other vehicles and is diagnosed the same way, whatever way you turn you are unloading that bearing. So if you turn right you are unloading the right front bearing and vice versa.

I have the hubs from my 01 4x4. They're a little dirty but in good condition. Clean them up and put a little grease on them and they should be good to go. I'll sell them if you're interested.
