Max temps

So , broke down on the interstate today. Ran hot. Shut it down an let it cool. Dumped all my Cooler water in it to get it of the I65. Made it to the so called gas station.
Long story short. Ran hot. Noticed it right away. Shut it down. Had to get a ride to the parts store. Bought a half-assed hose and cut it to length.
made it home, tell me what this means please...

Welcome to the forum

Year and engine would help???

But because of the CHT I am betting on 2001 and up 2.3l Ranger

Not sure what you want us to tell you?

Normal operating temp OF THE 2.3l DURATEC is 210-250degF
CHT= cylinder head temp, it can run 230-270

Your voltage looks low, 13.5volts, engine running should be lowest, so you probably have a bad field in the alternator, no relation to temp issue

Sorry. Year is a 2003 2wd 5 speed. Everything I’ve read says it’s running hot. Was just curious if these are normal temps. And voltage is normally 13.8.

Yes, for the 2.3l Duratec engine those are normal temps, temp gauge should show about 1/2 when fully warmed up

You can read here for some info on this: https://www.justanswer.com/ford/348m...e-degrees.html

Thanks for the reassurance RonD.
I already have a 92 4x4 4.0 with a blown head gasket.
Don't need two Rangers sitting in my yard.
Much appreciated.

Yes, the 2.3l duratec runs warmer than most, by design

4.0l and most engines have operating temp at 185-210degF
