Mazda/Ranger?

Since I just bought my Ranger a few months ago I am curious about the relationship between the Ranger and the Mazda truck. Does Mazda make the Ranger or visa versa? I know you guys know this, but I never made the connection until I started reading the forum.

Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me. It's been bugging me.

Ford owns Mazda. Just about everything that fits B-Series trucks fits our trucks.

The B-Series Mazda is still a Ranger.

Maybe Mazda is not using Ford Plan but Ford is still using Mazda plans.

o and ford does not own mazda they just have a contract

ok they own a chunk of mazda like 33% in retro speck my trucks like 33% mazda

from wikipedia

Ford acquired British sports car maker Aston Martin in 1989, but sold it on March 12, 2007,[36] retaining a small minority stake,[37] and Volvo Cars of Sweden. In November 2008 it reduced its 33.4% controlling interest in Mazda of Japan, to a 13.4% non-controlling interest.[38][39] It shares an American joint venture plant in Flat Rock, Michigan called Auto Alliance with Mazda. It has spun off its parts division under the name Visteon.

actually its any mazda truck from 1994 and up that are built by ford. anything prior to was mazda. its why you see such a difference in the older models, but then in '94 everything started looking the same.

i to get the, "but it says mazda, its not a ford" (and this is from guys who own fords) to which i reply, "its fords red-headed step child, just give it some fish heads and water and she goes" thinking when i start the body work, im going to completely debadge mine.

and since when is wikipedia a trusted reference, none of the information is verified to be true and anybody can change it at anytime.

bed is not used on stx models
you would also need to replace the doors, as they are different
i'm fairly certain the tailgate is going to be different as well but i can't find the pictures to back that up...
tail lights i didn't think were different on the stx's, but i could be wrong on that

your bed and the stx bed, are VERY similar, but the hard body line on the STX, which follows all the way through the side, is not on the mazda, which is the same reason the doors are different... i also believe the side mirrors are slightly different... that same body line should be present on the tailgate also

its really hard to find a stx pic look at the bed it not a stepside and its not a flareside its a mazda bed and where do you see any differents in the doors fenders yes doors no tailgates are the same across all 3 beds once you debadge them

As said above, Ford DOESNT own Mazda. They merely have a partnership with them, and Ford does own a portion of Mazda. BUT.....a few months back there was a report about Ford selling off some of it's stake in Mazda.

As mentioned earlier....94+ North American Maz B-series ARE N.A. Ford Rangers. Speaking specifically of 98+, sheet metal wise, they only share tailgates and cabs...bed and front end and bumpers are different. Everything underneeth it, are the same. Interiors differ for each truck, but only in the details(seat upholstery, gauges, int. trim colors).

You REALLY need to just stop posting if you don't know. Everything is "i think" or "i don't think" or "maybe". Someone who knows will post...learn from who really knows, then use it in the future when someone may have a question. This isn't a slam or flame, it's a heads up of douchebaggetry. Thank you silverfox for debunking Mr. Justjoinedinsept09whoisusuallywronginmostdepartmen ts. But I will say though....Styleside and Mazda beds share the same tailgate. Flareside Rangers have their own specific sized tailgate. lol.

Shane, as you so nicely put it in another thread, "my inbox isn't full" if you've got something to say to me, how about you say it to me?

as for the bed... take a look at these... no hard line down the bedside, as i said.

Are you blind?

What hard line are you talking about.........................the beds are THE SAME!!! All 98+ Maz beds are the same(save for punched holes for flares), and it's the same bed used on the STX model(04-07ish?) Ranger. Please....point out to me how the doors are different??? How exactly is the bed different? A picture with an arrow would be greatly beneficial to your false point.

BTW...you know how I am weezl....come on meow...I'm an *** when I have to be.

Yeah...I was thinking that too. But thought he'd be smart enough to know it's a sticker stripe, not a bodyline. lol.
