Me and Ditchs...

i seem to really have big problems in ditchs... i like them and all but they realllllllllllly like my vehicles... i was in the middle of my city... and school just got out. my cell started ringing and i didnt wanna shift and talk on the phone at the same time... (like and idiot) i pull off in a little ditch... i talk and get done and start my truck up and ready to go... my tires sunk all the way in a freakin muddy ass hole... my tire was coverd half way... so i try to get me self out of it... u know me havin a fancy ranger and all... i floor the mofo in first and it moves a little forward... then i pop in in reverse and floor it... it just keeps gettin worse and worse... then i started sliding sideways and the truck leaned like freakin 30 degrees.. and i went OMG... man my truck was so freakin close to tippin over it wasnt funny... so i got me friend to come pull me out in his big ass turbo diesal... and it was all good... funny story... scary tho... ANY STORYS YALL GOT FOR ME? funny crap that scares the bajesus out of yall

Jardo87 03-02-2005 07:05 PM

SuperGildo@RRP 03-02-2005 07:48 PM

30 degrees is nothin, when I had my sway bar off I could get my "LEV-O-GAUGE" to read 45 degrees on hard corners!!!

92 Ranger 03-02-2005 07:53 PM

ok you asked for a story ill tell you.... well i was up in the mountains with my family and well i wanted to go exploring in my moms 4x4 exploder... well i went up some huge ass incline and i turned around up top... and on my way down the truck got in the side of the road a really soft shoulder and and jerked the wheel away and tried to countersteer but it was no use the truck did a 180 and tipped over in a ditch... or a ravine it was like 8 foot deep... and im lucky to be alive actually both airbags deployed (didnt help me worth ****) and i was about 3 inches from a stump going through my door... so how about that? lol... all in all i shouldnt have ****ed around in my moms car and im lucky to be able to tell this story....

Jardo87 03-02-2005 08:06 PM

man that sucks... rollover eh? man on my little honda shadow motor cycle i went to a friends house that he just gave me directions... i went to this dirt road and turned on it and it rained like a mother freaker... there was more freakin down hills on the dirt road than up hills...(how the hell?) and i went down this steep part and squeezed the brakes and the honda started sliding and i went sideways and i fell off and the motor cycles rolled over me and kept rolling over and over and over down till the bottom of the dirt road hill....lots of cuts and bruizes...

I drove LIL BLUE into a river and hydrolocked, but she lived to talk about it

I was in the quarry in Centralia, on the "high road". They had just dug out a bunch of the quarry and were regrading the upper level.

It's about 4 or 5 truck widths wide at the bottom, and pretty rough. Towards the top it was now maybe 2 truck widths wide.

I went up it walking and didn't go all the way to the top. Rough but firm. Doc waited down at the bottom of the hill (it was just me and him that day) and I went up.

Now, being a 2WD truck, I went up pretty hard. What I had not gone far enough to find out was that they had pushed dirt over the rocks, but hadn't graded and packed it yet. It was loose fill over boulders.

There was a rock shelf ahead of it. My tires flew off the shelf, not 20 yards from the top, and into the loose dirt -- BAM!!!!! My front cross member came down on a boulder and it felt like if loosened my teeth. I am VERY surprised the airbags didn't deploy.

I got out expecting oil and smoke but nothing. The front wheels were sunk deep into the loose dirt and the front crossmember was cradled in a craggy boulder whose tip was sticking out of the dirt.

I got back in and was actually able to back it out of there.

However, the hill sloped not only down behind me, but too my left and was loose dirt and scree. As I tried to back down I slid left right to the edge of the drop off. It dropped off about 60 degrees down from the horizontal, very sheer, for about 100 feet. My truck was 1 foot from sliding over the edge by the time I was able to stop it.

I put it in park, set the emergency brake, opened the door, and slid along the side of the truck to the back, walked far enough down the hill to wave to Doc. He came up, hooked me with a strap, and pulled at an angle while I backed down to drag me away from the edge.

Now I walk EVERYTHING all the way before I hit it hard if it's a new area. ESPECIALLY in those kinds of areas where things change DAILY. Lesson learned.

I still frequent RF. Yes, I was trying to find a flex spot, and went into a ditch, and couldnt get a flex, and because my revos are over half warn, i started spinning almost burying myself, then I put it in reversed and dug my tips into the grass, and finally got traction and come out of the ditch wrong and my exhaust scraped my drivetrain and i was mad and couldnt even get a flex shot.

ranger024x4 03-02-2005 08:26 PM

at fist no
amazingly enough eventually every thing started working again
at first the truck was possessed
after I got her started again we drove about a mile to where Sawred was stuck
I put her up on one side of a rail road track and started poping open every cover and plug I could find
water poured out until dark and Tom and Tina's arrival
over the next three days the entire interior was removed cleaned, lubed and replaced
only real victim was the passenger side mirror and I bought a new one from Ford parts direct

LIL BLUE was in the dealer this week
transmission flush, all fluids changed (again), slip yoke lubed and she came back with a clean bill of health
Ford never knew this truck was under water for over a half hour
water was level with the top of the seats (which are leather.....)

ranger024x4 03-02-2005 08:38 PM

ur lucky that it didnt damage ur engine permanenly

LILBLUE04FX4L2 03-02-2005 08:40 PM

it was early in it's life, but I guess you could consider the water it ingested a carbon flush or clean out

n3elz 03-02-2005 08:47 PM

Neil's truck performs GREAT everytime I've seen it in action. It doesn't smell inside or anything. You'd really never know it happened -- except that we won't forget because it gives us something to rag Neil for...
