Just bought my first Ranger, a 1998 Cayman Green XLT 2.5l 5 Speed.

The truck is in great shape and perfect for carrying my stuntbike but the headlights are TERRIBLE!
I tried every trick possible to get them clear again and am ready for an upgrade.

Do I go nice crystal clear lenses with Silverstar Ultras, or an HID Projector setup?

I am leaning towards this plug and play projector kit since I want a direct drop in and good light for night driving. ANy idea if this will be a better and longer lasting solution than the Silverstars. I don't really want to change my side and running lights.

Those projectors in your link are designed for halogen bulbs. Putting the hids in them does not work very well.
If you want hids, Please buy real projectors. There are guys who will retrofit new lights for you..Maybe place an ad in the want to buy section......

Here's another idea.
I don't know for sure how much space you have in a 98 headlight. My 03 has about 105mm.
Here is a link to a neat hid projector set. They are 100mm so they should fit easily. They are designed to fit in the existing bulb hole. No drilling needed. One drawback is they use a somewhat unique bulb. I would buy a spare set of bulbs.
Once you bake the lights and remove the lenses, these should be real easy to install. Stick the projector in the bulb hole and tighten the nut. Since they are designed to fit the existing bulb opening, alignment should be good.

I know some guys will disapprove of these since they have a unique bulb. But they are 100% better than hids in a halogen housing. They are also a pretty simple install. Some dude named Mike used these years ago..

Thanks for the advice. I do like the idea and results of a real HID setup but need a quick solution for a bit more light at this moment. If there was a complete drop in HID projector solution I would buy now.

Which one of these would work best with the Halogens like the Philips 9007XVS2 X-Treme Vision Headlight Bulb?

Leaning toward these because they look good and could be used for HID Projector project so worth the extra $$$

I would go for the first set. Look good and are just what you need for a future hid project...

 

Put some Silvertstar ULTRA's in and it was a huge improvement. Hoping the new lenses make it even better. I ordered the top set.
