Need advice on buying a 2008 Ranger fx4

Hey guys, Dom here. I'm planning on buying my first truck a : 2008 Ford Ranger FX4 Off
Road 4X4.

It roughly has 33k miles. Stock tires with minimal wear. The truck is in excellent condition.

My main concern however is the price. $14,450 . It's a manual transmission and it does not come with winter tires. Which is a let down since where I live (Quebec) winter tires are mandatory.

Should I ask the seller for a lower price ? Any other comments would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks !

Like the truck, colors good and you say it is in good shape and low mileage.
Price to me seems reasonable.
Should be a good buy.

Offer less and a swap for a good set of “Winter” Tires.

Looks like a solid truck! I agree... offer them less and try to negotiate the tires into the deal!

I believe that there is a 2009 FX4, Vista Blue, automatic transmission, leather seats, subwoofer, lotsa chrome, 10-11K km, and BFG All Terrain T/A KO tires (probably has the snowflake symbol....check visually!....not very good winter tires, but is likely legal for Quebec's winter tire requirement) advertised at http://www.redflagdeals.com (see BST Motor Vehicles section of the site). I think that the truck is located in Gatineau. Firm price of $15,000.

Good luck.

Dave

Seems that the 4x4 Rangers hold their value pretty well. When I bought my '03 FX4 last year with 57K miles the retail book on it was $14K....I didn't pay nearly that much but they do well on resale prices.

Thats a good price for a mint truck, you could easily find one cheaper but ive found that clean rangers are hard to come by. I say go for it, offer him less and work from there

Go for the low ball price, then after they give you a price you like bring up the tires holding things up.

Keep a straight face and you could walk with this one with new tires and a low price.

Good Luck,

^ Agreed! You and the seller both know there are tons of other trucks out there for you to look at so if you don't get the deal you want just walk away!

I agree with everyone! Keep negotiating til you get to the price YOU want. It took me 4 months to find someone who wanted to negotiate with me. Tell em you wanna pay $13000 or something AND winter tires. If they say no, say thats your top dollar and walk away. Be a d*ck about it. If they wanna sell it, theyll call you
