Ok so im going down the hwy at 55mph when i hear a crack and the truck jerks left. I pull over get out and see that on the pass. side front tire there is a lug missing. i slowly wobble home with the hazzards on. i get home safe take off the tire and all the studs are broken. It was really hard to get the lugs off with all the studs spinning around. So i get it all apart take the calipers off. and now i cant get the rotor off i pulled as hard as i could hit it with a hammer it wouldnt budge? Now this is the first time i've ever done pads and rotors on a 4x4 am i missing something or should it just pull off ? i got some pictures of it and what it did to the studs ill post a little later. Thanks for any help guys. I got so much into this truck on stuff like this and im just trying to finish paying it off so i can get my f-150. wtf

 

Um, it's going to have wheel bearings. You've gotta take the grease cap off first and then take the cotter pin and the crown nut and retaining nut off first. If your truck has ABS the tone ring will be in the way and you'll need to replace the rotor. Otherwise you can press new ones in. But I'd probably just buy a rotor.

 

anyone got pics of this or how to do it i just need to see what this stuff is and ill be able to figure out how to get it off.

 

come on guys any info where the grease cap cotter pin and crown and retaining nut is and looks like would be tons of help.

 

In the center of the wheel, there is a dome. Pry this dome(cap) off, and you'll find what your looking for...

 

If your still trying to get the rotor off......there is either a big screw that goes through the rotor to hold it on (i did mine and my friends car at the same time, so it might be his car that im thinking about) But i know there are clips on the lug nuts that hold the rotor on....take some pics of what youve done so far and we can help you out...

Yeah all there is is a cap in the center of the rotor, take that off. Then take the cotter pin out and remove the big nut holding the rotor on. Then it will come off. No abs crap to worry about on the 93.

 

So yeah, I totally forgot this is a 93 4wd...

Ok,i would like to tell you how to do it,but it would take alot of thread space,i did my father in laws 93 4x4.And i found the hayes repair manual to be a big help,but if you still need to know,pm me and i will go through it,step by step for you.

 

I'm looking at the haynes manual and like mazda98 said it will help you a great deal. It is full of pictures for the procedure that you are looking to do. well actually for a bearing check it goes over the removal of the manual\auto hubs and has great pictures. If I had a scanner I would scan all the pages for you. Run out and grab a manual or try to borrow one.

 

ok i got the manual what page is it on? i cant find it i thought i would be by the brakes stuff. my step dad just looked to and couldnt find it. i've never had trouble doing pads and rotors i feel like a dumba$$. Oh and i didnt even touch or look at the truck yesterday it was over 100 degrees and i wasnt gonna mess with it.

 

ya one came completely off while i was going down the highway. i pulled over but couldnt really stop so i wobbled home with the flashers on. one of the studs fell out and got caught inbetween the rotor and the metal plate around the back and dug into my rim the whole way home f'd it up bad.

 

It's not in the brake section it's in chapter one, page 33. The brake section refers back to chapter one if you have 4wd.

What I was saying is the whole thing was probably caused by loose lugnuts... thats what happens it F's everything up. but maybe not on a 93 you have to be ready for repairs
of anything at anytime.
