occasional shake
my teenage son has a 97 2wd ranger. About a month ago he said on his way home the truck was shaking badly around 55 mph on his way home. It disappeared as quickly as it appeared. I took the truck for a ride and could not get it to do it. Checked all the lug nuts, everything appears okay. Truck has been fine until tonight when it did it again on his way home. He said the steering wheel was also shaking. He pushed in the clutch to see if it would make a difference and it didn't change a thing. When I took it for a ride I could not get it to do it. Quite puzzled. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

The easy place to start is checking tire pressure and rotating tires front to back and see if it changes.
It wouldn't hurt to put the truck and stands and check for play in the wheel bearings, steering/suspension linkages and bushings, etc. Again, easiest to take it to your tire shop to rotate the tires and ask them to check everything for looseness or play while it is on the rack if you don't want to do it yourself. If they claim to find a problem, ask them to show you before agreeing to do any repairs.
