For those of you who have nerf bars on your Ranger: after installing them, do they help or not when entering and exiting your cab? I have an '04 Edge.

 

I had them on a Tacoma once and they just seemed to get in the way, especially getting under the vehicle.

 

I have them on my 05 FX4 and they dont help

 

i had them on my truck and i took them off...didnt like them...kept getting in the way

 

I took mine off. miss them now. dont miss the looks of them though.

 

For a stock height truck, definitely not. They do come in handy on a lifted truck.

 

agree with the rest i dont think that they help cuz they are too close to the door. as in they are not low enough in my opinion it seems like they make it harder it get in the truck if you step on them

 

Definitely made it easier to get in my truck.. took them off though because I like the look better without!

 

I took mine off because it wasn't lifted yet and I liked the look w/o. I also found they stuck too far out from the cab. It seemed like I was stepping over or around them to get in a stock truck.
I have thought about putting them on since I'm lifted now but I still like the look. I think it makes it look taller.

I like the look better with them on.

 

I am debating taking mine off. I may take them off and see how I like it. Personally I think its to close to the cab to be of use to get a good step.

 

I'm not a fan and don't think they really work.

I don't think they work all that well either. I don't use them to actually step on. They just cover the frame up well if you have a body lift.

 

Thats the only reason I would have them.

 

The reason that I wanted to keep mine on was to hide the frame after my body lift.

I never really stepped on them all that much.

My future plans are to get rock sliders. That way I might have a little step just in case I need to give myself a boost up to get into the truck. And they will double as rock sliders lol.

Nice. Mine are chrome. I am torn about them. For now they sit under my bed.

 

They don't look terrible on, but my truck definitely looks taller without them. I agree, they are pretty much worthless to use as real steps-they're too close to the cab. But they do work great as "pants muddy-uppers" and "winter road slop collectors". I was going to have my brackets cut and extended out by a couple of inches to make them work a little better, but I never got around to it.

Im not a fan of the factory ones on a stock truck but custom or aftermarket on a lifted truck look good IMHO

 

Need to take another after photo with the sun at the same angle. It is like a light trick to lose the rusty frame in to the shadows. Same affect could be done with a couple cans of foo-foo can flat black on the frame.
Your truck looks nice either way.

 

^^^Yeah, didn't think about that until after I posted the picture haha. But the step sides do help hide the frame a decent amount.

 

I put mine on mostly for the sake of lil ones that i have to take places frequently. However I like the look! They hardly stick out and it kind of adds to the look... My two cents at least.

 

My mom had them on her F150, We generally didn't care much for them but they stopped people from ramming their doors into it in parking lots..

 

I've got the factory ones on my 2008 FX4 and don't use them but a friend of mine's wife is pretty short, about 5'2", and it makes it easier for her to get into his truck.
