I called and left a message with a local Ford dealer ...but they havent
responded yet..if they have a Grabber ORange XLT.

They probably dont have it...if thye dont...do they order it from the factory
custom built to my specs....or do they carry the parts and add the
stuff locally ?

 

I would say it might be tough to order a truck form the factory right now. Being the end of model year and all. Im sure Ford has a ton of trucks they havent sold yet. Maybe wait for the 2009 models to come out. Im sure the dealership is who you wanna ask though.

 

actually..I want a two tone colr..with bgrey moulding at bottom...but I think thye only have FX4's with that feature ? would thye build an XLT like that for me ?

 

nope. no custom paint jobs from the factory! lol, get an FX4... I wish I would have.

 

Its going to be hard to find a grabber orange now since its the end of the year and they only make grabber orange trucks for the first 6 months then switch over to the silver since they are both limited production colors. Hopefully 09 has grabber orange and u can buy one then.

Whatever is left on the dealer lots you can ask them to find you one though

 

the dealer/salesman can search inventory at other dealers to find the closest match to what you want. Thats how I got mine.

As said above, you can order any 08 now anyway...they are ordering up 09's bud. Grabber orange production for 08, hell....production for 08 is completely done.

Hopefully....for 09, ford will be smart, and paint their rangers the same bad *** orange as the sport trac's. I would seriously...be in line to buy a xlt reg cab 2wd.

 

I searched a lot of dealrships online....no FX4's ....only XL and XLT's...

The thing is that I had my mind set on the 2 tone color scheme....
for example..orange grabber body and grey at bottom...

now the question is this...th ebottom grey part..is that plastic or rubberized paint ?

if its just paint...can i get an XLT and get the grey plasticky or ruberized paint job
at the bottom ...so it looks like the FX4 ?????????? :)

they did away with level 2's in 07, 08 is just fx4 but essentially a level 2 besides the tires when you option it out.

 

level II still had some extra trans stuff on the manuals different ratio's and then the black interior...

 

so... can I get a paint job done to make it look like the
grey moulding at the bottom on a grabber orange XLT to make it look like a FX4 two tone ?

Good luck buddy.... I've never seen an FX4 in GO... you can't order '08s anymore so you could call and find out if they are offering the color again in '09. They don't change vehicles once they hit the lot unless it's little stuff like rails, mirrors, bed liners, etc. If you want a special color your best bet is to find an FX4 and have someone re-paint it. Good luck but if I find another GO on this site I might come re-paint it myself...

 

yes you can paint your truck however you want! lol
If you see my avatar, I did line X to my rocker pannels, thats always an option too. Its way better than paint and they can make it pretty much any color you want.

Well... the agent at my Ford dealership called back.... hes gonna try to find a FX4
in grabber orange for me....

and I definitely want one with the full console in the middle...

If they dont find a FX4... then I will get an XLT and get it painted Yellow...with Grey molding at bottom.... I think someone else on this forum has the same thing in that color
scheme ..

 

You won't be able to get an 08 FX4 in grabber orange, but good news is you can get an 09 in that color. Its a limited time deal again. That would be a sick truck if you wait and get that.

 

But if i remember correctly u bought a brand new 2008 XLT
New wheels, 33's, Super Lift, and Xlined u're rockers...hmmm n u've had the truck less then 5 months

Original Poster: If i were in your shoes....wait 2 months, and ORDER your brand new 09 Fx4 in Grabber Orange and in your options. A full blown paint job that looks good...would be around the 5k range. And that still is the low end of a full blown paint job. Why pay 24k for a truck that is an 08 and your going to paint it anyway...bringing your cost to upwards of 30k....when you can wait a lil bit and get exactly what you want for about 25k.
