New Bilstein Suspension

I just bought a 96 Mazda B2300 ( exact same as 96 ranger) it has very soft and worn out suspension and I am looking to replace it. I’ve narrowed it down to the Bilstein 4600 or 5100. I know that the 5100 is made for lifted vehicles and the 4600 for stock ride height. The truck has a tie rod lift but not a full lift kit. I’m not sure whether to go with the 4600 or 5100. If it helps, I will do some occasional off-roading but it will still be my daily driver. Anyone have any experience with these? Thanks

What the heck is a tie rod lift ?

A tie Rod looks like this, and is for steering.

I said one thing, meant another. I meant torsion bar lift haha. Sorry for the confusion. And I don’t know that it was lifted very much that way but I might have an inch or two

And from the research I’ve done I think that the 4600 shocks are what I need. Since it’s such a light truck and if it is lifted it’s lifted very little. If anyone has any suggestions otherwise please let me know

I am in the process of shopping for some Bilstein shocks also for my 2003 Ranger, please share any deals you may run into as I am not in a hurry. Thanks

Usually one can lift a ranger in the front 4 inches and still get away with stock length shocks, as far as length goes, stockers will be fine with a 2" t bar crank. Also... there is no such thing as a tie rod lift(I don't think there is at least), but I think you got that all figured out haha. If you plan on lifting your truck a little in the future, I would go with the 51s, which I THINK you can fit with a stock truck(CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG). If you have your heart dead set on leaving it exactly the way it is, then I guess go with the smaller shocks, I presume they're cheaper anyways, but the 51s may help the ride quality a bit

Actually it looks like Amazon might have the best price for the 4600s. I found some other websites where they were between $75-$95 but on amazon they are around $70 for the front and rear. Hope this helps. If I find a better price I’ll let you know. Thanks

Thank you very much “RangerNick04” this was exactly what I needed to know. I think I’m not going to lift it anymore, or not significantly, so the 4600 are my best bet. Thanks

Your '96 doesn't have torsion bars to lift.

Thanks for letting me know, I’m still figuring this stuff out. It is just stock height then. I ordered the 4600 suspension. The truck already had bigger tires on it. So I guess it just sits a little higher from that. Thank you everyone who cleared things up. I looked some more and the best deal I found on Bilstein suspension was on Amazon, for anyone wondering.

$280 for all 4 was the best I could find as well! 🙄 But I must say it was $$$$$ well spent..

One other thing, f250 stock and lift shocks fit the REAR of our trucks, if you lift it that’s a decent cheap alternative
