new here but I need help
I have an 04 2wd 3.0 auto...I only had it for a week an it broke down on me come to find out I had a clogged catalytic converter so one of the front ones got cut off it helped a lot as far as driveability goes but it's very loud now ...I called a couple of the local muffler shops an it's crazy what they charge ....I was wondering if maybe someone could tell me a cheaper way of getting it fixed I have no welding skills is there an after market on that I might bolt on ????
Muffler shops, or any shop, can't really help you unless you get a new Cat converter, which is the BIG COST, its a $25,000 fine for them if they "by-pass" Cat converters
So their downside is too far down to bother with doing it illegally
Wrecking yards can sell exhaust parts with Cats attached, Cats have to go to recycling, can't be sold
And its also illegal to install used Cats
Measure your exhaust pipe diameter
There are Flexible exhaust pipes in different lengths that might be made to work with some clamps
Its a $2,500 fine for a person to remove Cat converters, its Federal, so applies in all states, but there are no Cat Checks as far as I know, lol, shops are suppose to report missing Cats but none do as far as I know
