Do you still have your 02?
Thanks!
Yep, Picked it up in 2020 and still have it. Also have the 2003 Ranger that I bought when I graduated high school, been driving that one for over twelve years now,

2002:

2002 Now. I gave her the lowering treatment because my Edge is already lifted, and so is my F350.

My 2003 back around 2012.

My 2003 now (2005 front clip added in 2015)

Well up to Va and back home in one day with our new to us Ranger. We managed to get it washed and detailed, a new battery installed and a quote of $450 from a local Ford body shop to get the top of the front bumper painted and a few touch ups around the body of the truck. A few pics -

2004 4.0 V6 4x4

Front bumper needs paint.

New battery today.

Going with Pennzoil full synthetic.

That bumper is more than likely an aftermarket replacement, and somebody did a poor prep/paint job. Very rare to see a factory paint job come off like that, and only on the bumper, and not the valance.

That’s what I thought, nope… its the original factory bumper. My father-in-law purchased the truck new in 04, one owner never any accidents or damage. Always parked inside his garage when not in use. It will look great soon prepped and painted. In the shop it goes on the 18th.

I will drive the Beast while the Edge bumper is being painted.

2021 F350 PS Tremor optioned out.

Thank you. The Beast was a fun build and a very solid truck and we pull our Oliver Travel Trailer with it.

I believe the 4.0 sohc was made ( or engineered) in Cologne, Germany.

Wow, definitely not common. Usually the clearcoat fails on the hood and roof if the truck is left out in the sun, as is what happened to my 2002. But for it to only affect the bumper is strange. Definitely seems like the paint was messed up at the factory then.

Got the oil and filter changed today. Thanks @EF Hutton I went with Pennzoil full synthetic👍🏻👍🏻.
Spent the better part of the day buffing out the paint and then giving it a good coat of wax.

The hood really needed elbow grease. I am happy with how it turned out.

Looks very clean.

a big (small ) issue with the supercabs, are the backwards door latch cable ends turning brittle and breaking off. If yours does it, the fix is easy.
Auto Zone has the kits for about 11.99 per side.
I ordered the panel push in buttons from Amazon.
You drill out the rivets in the latch. Upon reinstall, you need 3/16 rivets and a rivet gun.

But yours might never break.

Ordered a new set of running boards this morning off eBay. They are no drill and come with mounting brackets. The existing chrome running boards are rusting and I had to glue the end caps on. These are all aluminum and should work just fine. A pic of what they will look like installed. The goal is to keep door dings down in parking lots. These are 5” wide so that should work.

New running boards today. Tomorrow off to the body shop for a bead/sand blasted front bumper and paint then clear.

I board all aluminum running boards. Installed this morning.

How do they mount, and how far from the cab do they stick out? My factory bars are rusting from the inside out, and so I'd like to replace them. My biggest gripe is that they don't stick out from the cab far enough and they're almost unusable if you have larger feet.

They mount just like the OEM boards with very similar mounting brackets and stick out enough to prevent door dings. I ordered the 4 “ boards as I did not want a 5” plank. Mine simply are more door ding preventers and reaching the roof when washing. Other than that I don’t see any other use. Google Iboard running boards and you will find installation info. These are perfect for my needs. They are aluminum and sealed up so rust should not be a concern. If they fade I will prime and paint them or lineX them.
Cheers.

The body shop did an amazing job on the front bumper. I could not be more pleased. They even removed two small dents in the edge of the tail gate.

Fresh paint and clear on the top of the front bumper.

Thanks! I was really impressed. I even got to meet the paint tech who did the job, the guy takes pride in his work for sure. Now I just gotta get a spray in bedliner installed and that will be it cosmetically. I plan on a transmission fluid change and a tune up.

It's always nice when the work is done by caring professionals. I'm currently waiting for the bumper cover to come back for my 2002. I unfortunately will have to repaint the entire truck at some point because the rest of the truck is faded pretty bad from sunlight exposure. But at least until then I'll be rid of all the chrome.

A gorgeous fall day and headed out to my deer stand. I removed the old EDGE decals and have a new set arriving this Monday. My wife said she kinda likes the clean no decal look.

I am headed to the deer stand, hopefully a nice big doe. Easy clean up vs the truck bed.
