New pcm on 1996 ford ranger
New pcm on 1996 ford ranger
I have just replaced my PCM from oreilys on my 1996 ford ranger because of transmission issues. They never asked for a vin or milage. My question is do I need to have it programed? Thanks
Welcome to the forum
PCM needs to match engine size and transmission type/year and that's about it
Old PCM should have had a Part number that started with F67F-12A650-XXX
The XX or XXX at the end is what needs to match yours but there are a few that will work
F6 = 1996
7 = Ranger/Mazda B-series
F = electronic part
12A650 = ALL Ford engine computers, for ALL models in ALL years, since 1986
XXX= revision, engine and transmission models
In any case, no, no programming is required
