New ranger good deal?
New ranger good deal?
I bought my first ranger about 4 months ago on craigslist, But I dont get my license back till august 1 so I'm starting to get exicted hah( who knew playing a penny slot at 20 years old would result in automatic lose of license for 6 months and almost $800 in fines F### AC...) Anyway wondering if I made out good. Its a 2006 4x4 Auto ranger reg cab w/ 51,000 miles on it. It has some slight scratches but interior is practically brand new and it came with a new husky diamond plate truck box, and new tires. I bought it for 7,500. Anyway it is my first ranger as I stated so I also want to know what I should do to it before I start driving it(maintance wise). Since I got it I bought a bed linner, rail caps, and my freind gave me his roll up tonneau cover Next on the list is a head unit and a hitch. Here are some pictures

Yeah I kinda feel the same about that. Ive been debating on using the truck box or the cover. I put the cover on for now so I can put my quad in the bed since I dont have a hitch yet and to reduce drag/improve the gas mileage. Not sure how true the whole drag/Improved gas mileage is. anyone know how true it is?
And yes its a 3.0
And yes its a 3.0
A 2006 4x4 Ranger with low mileage for $7,500? Sounds like a pretty damn good deal to me. I've always wanted a 4x4 Ranger with a regular cab myself, but they don't seem to be that common around here. I see maybe 3 or 4 a year pop up in my area over on the autotrader site and yahoo autos, but that's about it.
Since this Ranger has the 3.0, I've just got to ask. I've heard quite a few negative comments about the 3.0 in regards to it having the power of the 2.3 and gas mileage of the 4.0. Is there any truth to that? Also, with the 3.0 mated to a regular cab like the one here, wouldn't that kind of even everything out? The 3.0 in a smaller cab with less to pull equals more power and better mileage than a 3.0 in an extended cab, right?

Unfortunately, that is pretty much true. HP is the not much more that the 4-cyl but they do have quite a bit more torque. However, being that the 3.0 is an all-iron design, it is built like a brick you-know-what house!! They have been known to go as far as 300K and then some!
I was thinking about lifting it a bit but I honestly dont know much about it... How much would it cost on avg. for a 2-4 inch lift? How bad will my gas mileage drop with a lift? And I could never get rid of the seats I love them, and I love the rubber floor spilled a soda the other day and practically hosed the interrior down.
