Yes i have seen them on a ranger.
2" would be too much without flares. 1" would be fine, i dont think the 17" rim would rub the spindle when lowered.

1.) Emulate what I did. Get XLT springs and leafs to raise you an inch, then drop the 3/4.
2.) Get a 2" drop spring. Since you are 1" lower now, that 2" drop spring will only lower you 1", giving you 2". [Understand that? I do, but I don't know if it makes sense the way I typed it.] With the drop springs, I hear bad things about alignment issues...
2a.) For the rear, you could have two options. Option one would be to get some drop leafs, but that has a more harsh of a ride and also decreases your payload/towing capability. Not that you might be worried about that anyway.
The other option for the rear is to get a DJM flip-kit [$40] and flip the axle on top of the springs, then lift it back up with shackles to get the 3". The norm for the flip-kit is about 5"-5.5", so I think some 2" shackles would fit you best.

As for the wheels, I know you like the Bullitts, no beef with that. Here is what I would do. If you are getting the truck sprayed Sonic Blue, order the wheels in the cheapo grey with the polished lip. Get them suckers powder-coated in Sonic Blue as well! I know that someone had a White Ranger with some White Bullitts and it was killer. Imagine the Sonic Blue on Blue with the polished lip. mmm...sex on wheels.
----
My personal opinion on the drop is to do it 'right' and get the correct stock Ford XLT springs, get the real leaf's and then drop it with a proven kit. If you want to wait to see how mine turns out, be my guest.
This is the before/after of what I am aiming for, I think you all have seen this outstanding Photoshop done by someone on here. [Can't remember, sorry!]
