No start safety feature?

Got in my 10 day old new 2019 the other day and turned the key and nothing. Tried again and nothing. Took the key out and reinserted and it started right up.

Is there some safety feature I'm not aware of that prevented it from starting? Seems like I remember a message popping up on the info display but went away quickly.

Thanks.

Yes, most vehicles use a transponder or "digital key" since 2000
It can misread or partially read the number so a no start
