No turn signals, wipers, check engine light(which should definitely be on), and obd2
I’m having trouble getting my turn signals, check engine light, and obd2 port to work. there’s two connectors under the dash that aren’t plugged into anything but i can’t find what they go to
i don’t have any of the headlights connected but the blinkers should still come on on the dash and in the rear, right? my windshield wipers aren’t working right either. i swapped the wiper and turn signal switch but it was off a old steering column. could they both be bad? i don’t have the airbag on the steering wheel either the connectors are hanging. and i don’t even know where to start on the obd2 port besides it gets no power. please help thanks.

I have a 99 ranger and when I got it it had no dash and I’ve put a dash in and a steering column from a 98 ranger. I have been trying to put stuff in the right spot and the truck is good besides these problems. I hope that’s enough info please help thanks.

I'm thinking the cig lighter isn't too important. Power to the center post, ground to the outside casing. I wish there was a simple answer for the issues your having, but you have a few mixed years in that beast, and wiring did change some over those years. The wipers are probably reacting to the multi switch and if it's possible, hook your original switch back in and see if they will function right.

So the two connectors and that ground wire are all for the airbag and cruise control assembly that I don’t have on my truck so what could my issues be. I’ve replaced the hazard and flasher relay, I haven’t replaced the multifunction switch but I have two used ones and there’s no way both of them could be bad right? And also what’s causing my obd2 port and check engine light to not work? If anyone has wiring diagrams for these please lmk I have a 1999 ford ranger with a 3.0 v6 and a 5 speed manual.

No, I doubt both switches are bad. Is the OB2 the original or did you splice that in too? Your going to have a ton of wire testing to do to work these bugs out. I don't believe any of it will be plug and play. Can you manually wire the turn signal relay to test it from there and get the turns to work? It's so hard to direct you when I'm a hands on mechanic. For now if you can get the main functions working, than you can just tinker over time to get the rest going. I'm thinking there were reasons you got this truck in the conditions you did and your fighting somebody else's demons here.

Ok, I'll help how I can. All makes sense now, knowing it was a project truck. You restoring it makes it fun. My guess on the OB2 is that the previous owner either cut into the wires someplace or possibly rerouted a wire from it for his own purpose. Try following the harness wires and look for splices anywhere. I'm going to look at the wiper motor for your year. I know mines was acting up a few years ago and ended up being a bad circuit board in the motor.
