Yes I agree. Dogs like to play in traffic so if they get in your way mow them down.

Well, insurance totaled it. Good news the frame isn't tweaked.

So, anybody gone through buying a car back, what's involved, 'cause I don't want to have to try to find another truck that's exactly what I want, like this one is. I'd rather fix it. So, any pointers?

Atleast you didn't kill the dog. Running over a duck or raccoon is justifiable but I don't think I'd ever run over a dog to avoid an accident. Probably someones pet that got loose some how, not worth killing to save a truck. The truck is just material goods that can easily be fixed or recreated all together, someone's dog isn't.

first off, Im sorry about your truck.

second, I understand what you are saying but many times you put yourself in more harm by trying to avoid the animal. I love dogs but given the choice of my skin or his fur, Ill choose my skin every time.

Well, they're gonna give me $6783 and let me keep it, and I don't even have to do a salvage title.

I didnt read the previous 6 pages....

3 years ago, I would have said 'hit the dog'

today, different story.

I have a 2 year old English Springer Spaniel named Sparky

he is my life. I love him to death. He has been there thruogh out the most difficult times of my life, and I would sincerely die for my dog.

If someone, chose to run over sparky vs smashing up their car... word can not describe the **** storm that would befall the person that killed sparky.

Because of that, and my love for my dog, I will swerve for a dog... Ill total my truck for a dog. its easy to sit there and say ' I should have hit the dog' but as much as Sparky pisses me off sometimes, he truelly is, my very best, my closest friend... no amount of money in the world could replace him...

Just recently as last wednesday, I went out the back door onto the back deck of my house... Sparky was in hot persuit of a bunny in the yard.. I slipped and fell, face first down the stairs... I didnt even yell.. more of a low voice, 'sparky' and at my SHEAR amazement he was THERE with in literally 5 seconds... and didnt leave my side... for the whole 1/2 hr I laid, in excruciating pain, on the sidewalk... I managed to get up, using him to push myself verticle, and waddled to my garage.. he never elft my side... the walk back to the house same deal...

As much as I love my truck, I would give it up if it meant the life, of sparky.. he is a dog, that I truelly love, and, above all else he is there when I need him...

So, I dont know who sided with the OP, but, dogs, are special, and as much as you care for your ranger, because your truck is now smashed up, you allowed another person to gain happiness which can not will not, have a dollar amount, to have happiness...

It sucks your truck is messed up.. Its sad... but know this, that dog, and his owner, are happy you smashed up your truck instead of killing the dog... I live on a busy street... if a person ran over sparky, words can not describe the pure rage that would come down on the person that runs him over, instead of smashing up his car...

dude i dont think you get the point. its not the fact that people dont want there car smashed up. why would you risk your life or the lives of anyone else nearby by swerving for a dog? i have a dog too and i feel the same way about her as you feel about yours but i cant say i would blame someone for hitting her, especially if it would be her fault for someones death. just how i feel

I'd run over "sparky", I hate little dogs so much. I wish they would all die already. There needs to be a minimum size allowed for dogs. Anything smaller than 2.5 feet long should be banned from life.
