Oil Filter Funnel?

1 Attachment(s)
I was thinking of changing the oil instead of having it did. Looked like removing the filther would be messy. So I clumb underneath for a better view. Look what I found.

Is this from the factory or a previus owner's fix?

I'v never seen that before......

I'm pretty sure its factory, my 04 had one as well. I've heard of others having it

Factory....guess that would explain it. What's the purpose or is it part of the filter?

I think its to keep oil from leaking on the starter when you remove the filter...or something like that. Its been a while since I've messed with it though so I could be wrong.

Bumpncarstereo 02-08-2011 12:33 PM

is it just on the 3.0? my 04 4.0 did not have that.

StrangerRanger 02-08-2011 01:31 PM

I think its a 3.0 thing. I got it and it makes it super nice to pull the filter.

Willzane 02-08-2011 02:44 PM

i "had" it. the filter was on really tight for some reason. i never had a problem with doing it before... i couldnt get a good grip on it and so i broke at Mfer off.

silverfox 02-08-2011 03:37 PM

I think if i had a 3.0 i would get a oil filter relocation kit.

Bart68 02-09-2011 04:58 AM

My 3.0 has one on it and it saves on a messy oil change.

The SuperDookie Ranger 02-09-2011 08:58 AM

I see now, 3.0 would explain it.

iplayloudly 02-10-2011 08:54 AM

my '04 3.0 has it too.
