Oil Pressure gauge - 2002 ford ranger

Okay y'all, I wanted to create a post because i have a problem with my oil pressure gauge. here is a video of what i can see when driving. (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Di1...ew?usp=sharing) My question is, is this a result of a faulty oil pressure sensor, or a faulty oil pressure gauge. One is 20$ and the other is 50$ so id like to get the correct one first. if i need to provide any information about the truck id be more than happy to. Im still learning about vehicles as this is my first one so sorry if its a stupid question, i just cant find a direct answer anywhere.

Welcome to the forum

Can't watch the video because it wants me to sign in, I don't sign into nothing, lol
I assume the needle on the oil gauge flickers or otherwise stops working now and then

It will be the oil pressure switch(sender), 99.99% of the time, never even came across a bad gauge, could happen just never seen it or read about it
Can just be the connector so unplug it and plug it back in and see if problem goes away

Yep, can't\won't sign into your google drive to watch a vid; post+link it on YouTube as a public file.
Don't know much about the 2.3L; assuming it's only got the usual 6~8psi OilPressureSwitch
to go with the OilPressureFakeGauge in the InstrumentCluster, which is only an Off~On OilPressureNeedle.
These switches are notorious for being slow to pop up during cold starts+warmups. More info at

Don't bother with the switches at the local parts store. They will fail within a matter of weeks. Find a Motorcraft version on Ebay.

You want the one that matches YOUR wiring connector, so have a look at current oil switch connector

For anyone using this post later on I took the time to find the part at the lowest price I could. I found this Motorcraft one on Walmart's website for $7.29 and signed up for the membership trial so it ended up getting free shipping. I basically got the OEM part for 12 dollars less than the aftermarket parts available which wouldn't last as long. This is where I got the part.

Not sure yet, just ordered it today, but I will update it when I install. I just want to put as much info here as a can in case someone else has the issue... that way they can find what they need here.

Alright y'all sorry for the VERY late update, but i finally got the pressure sensor installed to day (life got in the way). Needless to say my oil pressure gauge is now working. So for anyone else who plans on doing this repair there are three things that you should keep in mind
1. The sensor for the 2.3 liter engine is right next to the Oil Filter and has a white plug attached to it (for easier identification)
2. Do it during an oil change, since oil will be coming out of there
3. Make sure you buy the motorcraft version, you can find them for essentially the same price as the duralast version and it will last longer

Thanks to everyone who commented on this post for all your help!
