Hello.

94 2.3l 2wd 5 speed manual.

This morning after driving the truck for 10 miles, I stopped at a place. Went back out to leave and the starter would just spin, not engaged. Push started the thing to get to work. Got parked at work, turned the engine off and tried to start it. Same thing.

Battery has 12.9v. This has just happened, so I have not had time to do any diagnosis.

Assuming I need to replace the starter, what aftermarket brands are ok? What brands should I avoid?

Just went back out to see if it would start. It mostly would just spin. A couple of times it acted like it wanted to engage, but then it would just spin.
