paint flaws

i notice today when i was waxing my 2007 fx4 off road ranger that the roof has some paint defects. looks like dirt in the paint, some areas look like the paint sunk, i saw it looks like a finger print that someone looked to see if the paint was dry??. also the passenger rear door looks dull compared to the front door. im pretty picky when it comes to paint, my brother-in-law is a paint and body man for over 25 yrs. im bring my truck in for my first oil change and ill see what they say. i can live with it but why should i not get it repainted? i hope they they have a good body and paint man. also my drivers side rear door doesnt close very good, have to really slam it to close, i did see a post on that a while back. if you have a 07 ranger stand in the bed and look at the roof, find a good time when the sun is down at the right angle and see if you see anything, let me know on your new ranger. also i saw a dark spot over my passenger side door but i can live with that, you really have to look to see it. thanks.

"im pretty picky when it comes to paint"

So why didn't you look real good at the paint when you went to pick her up that first day? That's the time to go over her real close, when the salesman is standing there and you have a check in your hand. You will be amazed at what they do for you.

That isn't always true, my truck paint was pealing on the lower door jam drivers side. I took it back to the dealer (4months old at the time) they fixed it and it has been 2 years since. I havent had a single problem.....

In any event, take it back, its brand new, and don't take no for an answer from the dealer......

a repaint will be good......you will NEVER know that it has been done....a dealership paint shop is trained by Ford and certified by Ford to do work on their brand vehicles...

I just want to know why he thinks a repaint will never be as good. If they know what they are doing, you wont know its ever been repainted, especially the newer it is.

you seriously wont notice a difference, but NOTHING will compare to the original paint job straight from the factory. the paint process is different when it's done while the vehicles are being manufactured. i believe extreme heat is also used in the curing process... something that can't be done again once the truck is all assembled. from what i've heard, the paint job is generally more durable than an aftermarket job.

the thing is sometimes little imperfections happen out of the factory...when they do a final check of the truck when it come off the line they have to fix whats wrong...my buddy eric...his old brother is the final guy who checks over the f150s when the come off the line and he even told us any where from 1-10 a month get sent off to a shop to have paint flaws fixed....who ever did yours must have been a hurry or something...

from my understanding, when they paint a vehical in the factory, they negatively charge the metal, and positively charge the paint (Modern Marvels, History Channel) this creats a MUCH better bond with the two products, However, a good shop can also do perfect work as well... There is a shop around here, that does ABSOLUTELY PERFECT work. I mean PERFECT like, factory perfect. I tried to get them to paint my mirrors, and they wouldnt cause they cant gaurentee it, and they stand by whatever they paint 120%

talked to my dealer or the guy i bought the truck from and he said we will look at it. only thing that really bothers me is that the passenger rear door top isnt as glossy as the front door, you can see the differance if you stand in the middle of the 2 doors, one side you can see my face the other is just foggy. not bad where i have too fix it but its differant. i also checked that truck out from nose to nose before i bought it. must have been a real sunny day because i didnt see the paint flaws on the roof. you can really hardly see it but its a defect in a few areas.
