do you just turn the key as fast as you can when you get in it. You know without letting the fuel pump pump fuel to the engine? only thing i can think of besides its really cold out side lol

agreed, turn the key forward and let the fuel pump kick on, I usually wait about 3 seconds when it's cold out. I have been having a problem kinda like yours, I think it's just so really damn cold out! BTW I just had a full tune-up at 90,000 and your truck is new so that wouldn't be it.

My truck starts real slow in the winter as well. I always let the pump run for a bit and it usually takes a couple extra seconds to start up. Nothing out of the normal.

You may need a new battery, or one with more cold cranking amps.

Wirelessly posted

You can use a electric battery blanket warmer. The cold can rob alot of batt crank power. Regardless what battery you own. Replace your fuel filter too, if its been a while. Could be bunged up.

Eh, that's only -5 C. I plug in my truck when it drops below -10 C. Doubt a battery warmer will help much, it sounds like the battery is defective.

I've started my truck when it was below -10 C without plugging it in and it took like an extra second of cranking to start.

When it gets cold I put methyl hydrate in the gas to get rid of moisture. Perhaps there's some moisture in the line causing the fuel pump to not deliver fuel fast enough.

Sounds normal. Probably the battery. Take it to an auto parts store and have them test it to see if it needs replaced.

New battery 11-5-10 from Auto Zone

Hi , I got the best gold battery A.Z. had . The last time I fueled up was september an I still have 2/3 of a tank left over . I put gas treatment in it after it wouldn't hardly start . I went out today it was about 45 an it cranked a lot better so I put octane booster in the tank an an ran till warm . Will summer time gas cause this problem ?? I,m going to try to start early in the a.m. tomorrow while it's 25-30 degrees . I'm a old man an can't hear the fuel pump run so I waited about 30 seconds today before trying to start an it was 75 % quicker starting . It normally starts instantly . I've got a caravan I drive mostly . I really appreciate the input from all !!!! Thanks Bud

Wait, how old is the battery? Lots of sitting is hell on a battery, and what you describe still sounds like a weak battery to me.

2006 Ranger Super Cab 4-door 4x4 off road toe package

Hi & Thanks to all , After I put the dryer cleaner & octane booster in the tank I ran it till warm to mix the stuff & today it cranked right up . I still had summer time gas in the tank ?? I don't drive the truck often It sits in the barn covered .I usually pull a trailer for working ( hauling ) as I don't want any scratches .I guess I made a sissy out of it but , if you really get down on it hard this little red Ranger will get it on . Thanks so much . Bud

First thing i would do is go find some fresh gas.Your fuel is almost 4 months old. Try topping off with premium gas and see if that helps.
