push button start

hey guys i have an 08 ranger still under warranty wanted to put a push button start what do you think should i hold off until warranty finished 4 years from now lol or get ford to install it or will they ?

crazymikey 03-29-2009 01:37 PM

Warranty fail

Shaklakan 03-29-2009 01:40 PM

Yah i wouldn't do that with your warranty.

bmfmancini 03-29-2009 01:42 PM

how bout if i make ford do it ?

whippersnapper02 03-29-2009 01:46 PM

Why do you want a ricer mod?

I'm sure if done properly you should not have any problems. I would wire it up so you could still use the key to start it. It will void you warranty if it is proved to cause something else to malfunction.

Oh yeah. Pay the money for a good one not a $10 thing off of ebay.

bmfmancini 03-29-2009 01:56 PM

the push button start im looking to put on does not replace the key its just an add on to the key and i dont consider it a ricer mod but the my opion

NATEFX407 03-29-2009 01:59 PM

**** the warranty..

morris 03-29-2009 02:00 PM

yea, i'd wait till the warranty is gone before you do that. as cool as they are, i wouldn't put one in a ranger. my stepdad has a mustang and i'm considering getting him one since it suites the car better.

robert99ranger 03-29-2009 02:00 PM

If you dont mind me asking, why do you want that? So you are still going to have to put the key in and then take the effort to push the button?

bmfmancini 03-29-2009 02:06 PM

i know i was just talking with my buddy im backing out of that seemd cool at the time

LOL

Again with the improper use of the word.

bmfmancini 03-29-2009 03:08 PM

what word ?

crazymikey 03-29-2009 03:58 PM

You should make a push button starter on the driver's seat, so when you sit on it the engine will start and when you get out it will shut off. lol.

No that is a ricer mod.

08XLT4x4 03-29-2009 04:04 PM

Its not going to do much to the warranty I dont think. Is there a kit for this, or how are you planning on doing this?

Ive done all sorts of mods to my '08 and I had some warranty work done just the other day, no problems or questions asked.

If the Mod isnt the cause of the problem that needs to be fixed under warranty, you shouldnt have any problems.

bmfmancini 03-29-2009 04:06 PM

im not gonna do it too ricey

08XLT4x4 03-29-2009 04:07 PM

whatever, if there was a kit (or if someone knows an easy way to do this) I would consider it. i think its cool. F the haters! lol

04blackedge 03-29-2009 04:14 PM

Lol me too, if there was a good place for the button I'd consider it.

Mykhael 03-29-2009 04:37 PM

I just had a question.

If you eliminate the key, and just have a button to push wouldn't it make it easier to steal?

I have never seen one used so that's why I ask

bmfmancini 03-29-2009 04:44 PM

you dont byapass the key atleast not for the one i was considring

offroadn_redneck 03-29-2009 04:46 PM

Id do it like my grandpa's prius. Id have a key fob that worked as a transmitter so when I was in the truck and pushed the button, the truck would look for the key fob and if it saw it, start the engine.

Mykhael 03-29-2009 04:46 PM

I know the newer Dodge Vipers have the push button if all you got to do is push the button I may go get one tomorrow

DisturbedESV 03-29-2009 05:20 PM

So you put the key into the ignition, possibly turn it, and push a button?? Sounds like a waste to me.... I'd wait until the warranty's up but I'm not one to talk... and isn't the warranty 3 years, not 4?

Mykhael 03-29-2009 05:24 PM

3 years or 30,000 miles which ever comes first
