Question for Mike @ Custom 4x4 Fabrication

I was talking to Mike at custom 4x4 and he asked me about the factory front bumper mounting locations. Are they the same on 98-current Rangers?

and on 98-00 is it the same for 2wd and 4wd?

This question is for 01-current, are the regular 2wd rangers front bumper mounting locations the same as the sport/edge and 4wd .

Also if something changed from 04 (my year model) and up, let me know.

I've never had a 2wd and cant remember on the 98-00 rangers.

He wants to make sure and be able to offer brackets for all year rangers from 98-current in order to make the bumper a bolt on design.

Thanks guys!!

Only thing I think is different is the bumper brackets that changed from like 98-00 to 01+ only difference I think is they pull the bumper up more.

The 2wd and 4wd bumpers mount the same, but not all 2wds had that full front crossmember.

2wd and 4wd mount the same but the 4wd has the crossmember and tow hooks. He should make the mounts adjustable so a stock truck and a 3" body lifted truck could use the same mount...just my 2 cents..

A lot of 2wds have the full cross member and tow hooks. Mine did/does.

already is! you just gotta call, its not on the website. they wont permanently weld the mounting brackets though because they havent tested it on all years. They just tack weld the brackets where they lined up on their test truck, then have the customer get it permanently welded when they ensure it bolts on properly. I have one on the way, cant wait to get it!

it doesn't come with a grill guard, that is something they did extra. cut a regular grill guard in half and bolted it up.

That without that "upper" grill guard part? Just the basic one?

yeah, as far as I know, everyone with the grill guard put that on themselves (sea-Bass and Camodown).

Im sure they will do it for you, but it will definitely cost extra. Just call the guy up hes really cool and will do pretty much whatever you want.

Yeah, It doesnt come with the grill guard or fog lights, this is what it looks like without the grill guard...(I am planning on getting an STX grill and taking the grill guard part off and using it when I feel like it.)

RangerMuse, I'm guessing you have round factory fog lights, you can re-use the factory fogs and recess them in the bumper, I wouldn’t mount them flush, recessing them would look cleaner....that is if you even have factory fogs.

Like this, but round...

Those are good looking but if i did it I would for sure have to go to a square style light to mount inside it. I am considering the tube bumper idea too so we will see what happens ya know.

Thanks for the info though man

Yes, but you will have to make your own mounting brackets. Frame is different on year.
